It is impossible to define which is better unless we know what you want. Show or working dog. High energy or low.... etc. What will you be doing with the dog... and even then within litters, puppies are different. Look at the difference in some brothers and sisters that you know.
These are both top showline combinations. Will you want to be showing your dog at National levels? Going to shows all over the country? What are you really looking for in a dog? Perhaps if you define it, then you can answer the question yourself.

Yes , actually i want it for both a family companion , protection dog & to compete in show competitions

What is your level of experience, also? Contrary to what some people claim, there are varying degrees of work ethic and of hardness among the show lines, just as there are among the working lines, and if this is your first large, multipurpose dog and you're not inclined to be especially firm with your pets then there are certain combinations that might not be the best choice with which to start out on this journey.

Bannos, What Fantom said is true. You're going to have to describe what you want and ask they pick the best puppy for you. Fortunately for you both litters look promising. Goran placed a little higher than Finn but don't let that make your decision. I have Finn's mother and you should see the quality she produces. Elisha's brother Enzo and a few other dogs from their mother Vaby are here. You're in a good family of dogs in either litter. Your concern should be getting the best puppy for you from what's available.

Thanks Hexe , Dog 1 , really useful advice. honestly , i would not claim that i'm expert , i would rather say i am a beginner & willing to learn with a passion to quality GSD & that's why i'm trying to choose the best option or the best potential puppy out of these parents. after some consultation with breeders, i realized that choosing a puppy is at risk , meaning that you can pick what is presumably the "best puppy available" but when it grows up , health problems might develop. so no guarantees at this point. but what would be the advice you can give when choosing a puppy?. on the other side , what would be the consequences if my family pampered the dog so much without being firm in certain situations? , would that result in a severe behavior problems ?.

Bonnos,

Pups are like kids. They start with a basic set of genetics, who they are, how smart they are, how they address life's situations. From there the rest is up to you to mold whatever they have. Here's a basic guideline for raising a dog. Be aware of what the dog is thinking. It will react one of 3 ways in every situation. If it reacts correctly, reward the behavior. If it reacts incorrectly, correct the behavior. If it doesn't know how to react, show it how it is supposed to react. Most bad behavior i have encountered has been from lack of correction or guidance as they are growing. Bad behavior is reinforced through a correction that is actually a reinforcement or no correction at all.

Puppies are always a gamble. That doesn't mean you can't stack the deck in your favor. These litters check out. You have a pair of 9's and the dealer has 16. It's still a gamble but honestly, most of the litters that appear here are a 5,9 when the dealer has 20.

You're looking for a family companion, protection dog, and show dog. Bear in mind the family dog and protection dog are not always the same animal. If you are happy with the show dog that's a family companion that is respectable on the schutzhund field and you can buy a gun. I think you're in the ballpark with your expectations.

Your obstacle is still going to be which available puppy is best for you? Most people pick a puppy from the picture. Avoid that. The people connected with these litters know dogs. Don't expect the best unless you can do it justice. They don't know you. Just let them know what you want, what your resources are, i.e, if you belong to a club and will train it or are a member of a club that will show it, let them know what you will do with it.

Dog1,

That is really a great advice , thank you so much . i believe as you said it is very important to tell the seller about the purpose of the dog im buying to choose the best for me & " not to pick a puppy from the picture".

I try and make things very SIMPLE...Meaning: If you think about all the above and not know what you're really looking at then you won't get the dog/puppy you want...

First of all Do Your Homework...Spend a considerable amount of time finding out what you really want...If you're looking for a Showline GSD then go to Breed Conformation Shows and talk to the people involved...Pick their brains to see what they have to say...If you're looking for a Working line GSD then consider going to a Working Dog Club such as a Schutzhund Club and talk to those people and see what they want and like in a dog...Then make up your own mind to what it is that you really want...

There are Showline GSD's that can and do Schutzhund so you can have a mix of what you want...Just know what you really want...

One other piece of advice I'd like to offer you is to find someone that is experienced in what you want and have them help you with finding the right dog for you...Even have them go with you when looking at litters to pick the right puppy for you...

And remember "Puppies are a Crap Shoot...at Best"...If you like the parents then it's a pretty good chance you would like the puppies...

I'd also say that it's a good idea to write down a list of the things your looking for in a dog/puppy...Such as: Sex...Color...Size...Energy (Drive)...Working Ability...Conformation...Temperament...And then begin to put them in Order of your Most Desirable to the Lesser Desirable...

Dog1, very impressive advice!

Bonnos, all the best for your adventure! German Shepherd Dogs at least for me are very special, and they deserve loving and caring homes, not forgetting about their "working dog" roots. Nature AND nurture...
