Poor Roman was found living in an abandoned house and taken to the local shelter by a person in the area. Though our shelter tries hard not to euthanize, dogs like Roman are the first to go due to thier low adoptability when space is needed. And they are currently over whelmed with dogs. He's definately a senior boy and also has weakness in his hind leg and hair loss on his back end, probable flea allergy. He couldn't have been abandoned for long as he's still in good weight and is a stout boy with a big blocky head so it was fortunate he was found quickly. A happy go lucky boy, he loves to go outside for walks and gets around fairly well. He definately could use a loving retirement home and some vet care. His chances of getting adopted locally are slim to none. How heartless for his owers to dispose of this loving pet this way.
please contact Humane Society of Raleigh County Inc., Beckley, WV- Phone: 304-253-8921 or 304-255-9134 (Volunteers can assist with transportation) Please call the shelter at the above phone number or email opundo@operationunderdog.org for questions.

If I could get him to my house in NY, I would take him in..
Any ideas getting him here.

*I do have a 3yr old boy, so not sure if kids are an issue. He's not an issue unless the dog hates kids. He knows better than to bother a dog. If anyone has more info., that would help. Barring him hating children, I would be happy to take him in.

Don't want this old fella to fall off the radar...let's see if we can't get him into a foster somehow, can't we? Jenni said he could go to her place if he's OK with kids--any word on that question? The initial post says the shelter volunteers can help with transport, so where do we go from here? What does he need to keep him safe for the moment?
