It was a pleasure to be asked by my GF to do the honors of puppy holding for the car ride home, when she took ownership of her rottie-mix baby girl  the past  week.

Rottweiller Ranch Rescue of Marlborough, CT,  screened and provided transport from the Southern states to the North East, using All Paws Transport.

It was quite the humbling experience to see at least a baker's dozen of dogs being claimed. I saw a variety of pedigree dogs too, including a young bloodhound, all finding forever homes. We had no idea our purpose being there was being shared; the same hope and dream of meeting the newest family member as we emerged from our vehicles, parked at the commuter lot meeting point. We waited expectantly as any newbie parent would, as one-by-one, a joyous adoption was taking place again and again, on that brisk cold morning.

Some of you know I am the proud momma of Beau Blue: my rescue pup I traveled to pick-up from Montana.  Well, my GF recently lost her old rottie girl, and seeing what a great dog and experience it has been for us, despite the mysterious ancestry my pup's sire .  GF easily fell in love with a female pup, doing a search on the internet. Her new pup has a mom who is a rottie.  Here is Mojo doing his "nanny dog thing", he's so good at it now.

LOL  We both have the biggest of all crap shoot of puppies,  just,  really we need to keep asking hmmm..... I wonder just ... Who's Your Daddy?

Sigh - that reminds me so much of my old girl Vida and her Rottie
'adopted son' Forest, when he was 12 weeks and they met each
other.  Went on to be an excellent friendship even when he finished
up nearly twice as big as her.

I had a Rottweiler/Shepherd that looked like that when I was younger. His name was Brutis and was from an accidental breeding between a purebred female Rottweiler and a male purebred German Shepherd.
The owner of the female Rottweiler was a Rottweiler breeder and wanted the gonna as soon a possible and was giving them away for free. Everyone who saw Brutis though he was a purebred Rott, even a man who owned
a male Rott in my neighborhood thought Bruitis was a purebred. The breeder has docked all the puppies tails and that help make them look full blooded. Brutis's point markings however were a light tan that most German Shepherds come in now.
The "Rottweiler pup" could be mixed with Shepherd like mine was. She does have black on her muzzle and it looks like she has a small white spot that many Shepherds have now.

:)

great stuff....thanks Bee.

PS..bee ever thought of writing books? heck i bet if you write a children book on Beau w/ photos it would sell....you have a way w/ words that flow into a story which makes is easy to read and captures your attention right away.

A few years ago in south London there was a litter that was a deliberate
first cross between a Rott and a Shepherd;  about three of the pups
were sold in the same local area, so we had a chance to watch
them grow.  Two were sables; the third a black and tan.  All three
had soft ears; but otherwise favoured their GSD parent a little more
than the other.  It seemed to work out quite a nice mixture.

Many years ago the dog trainer at our club had a first cross GSD X Rott called Bear. He was the most gentle, stunning and amazing dog.

What a lovely story to start the day, and what a gorgeous pup. So glad your friend has him to help mend her heart. He looks like a heart mender :)
