How long and how many times a male shed its coat in a year. I have got a puppy who is about 9 months and he sheding his coat from 3 months. I groom almost every day and see that their is a lot of hair coming out. Can anyone tell me about this ?

It really depends on the dog. I have three german Shepherds. Two of them "blow" their coats twice a year but don't lose any hair in between. All of their shedding takes place within 1-1.5 months. My other one also "blows" his coat twice a year, but pretty much sheds all year round. When they blow their coats it can be pulled/brushed out in clumps, alot comes out at a time. I have found taking them to the groomer at this time and have them use an air force dryer to dry their coats really helps with getting most of the dead hair out. Take care, Melanie
