I am thinking of buying a puppy from Orrylordblack in the Czech Republic. Please can any advise regarding them.

I would appreciate also if people could tell me about the mating they have recommended for me. I have already made it clear that the main purpose of the dog is a family pet and the below are the two dogs of the mating they have recommend for myself.

The pedigree looks good on paper. Both dam and sire come from west and cr wls. Titles give you good indication that they have good temperament. You may read on other posts, the breeding of a male to a female is also to enhance some gsd characteristics in puppies.

Iveta (owner of OrryLordBlack kennel) produces a number of litters each year. Most look pretty good on paper, but like with all litters, can be hit or miss. She has some nice dogs and there are a number of people in the US who have dogs from her that seem to be pretty satisfied.
I only wish these the Czechs wouldn't use such ridiculous names for their kennels lol.

So, I have a lot of experience with really similar dogs- I have close relatives of multiple dogs from both top and bottom. It's a nice breeding, but I would not call this family pet temperament, generally speaking. On the top, you get high stability in temperament but they can be super intense. I have bred these lines many times. One word I have used to describe a couple from these lines is "machine."

On the bottom, it's not a lot different, but a bit sportier in some ways. Higher energy, high drive, not super long fuses. Now, there is some balance in there, too, but hard to tell with a puppy which side it'll favor at maturity. I really do like the breeding and have done similar. I just would not advertise that cross as a good beginner dog if it were my litter. Now, I don't know the actual parents and she does- and the actual parents have more influence than the rest, but there are some pretty strong genetics there that aren't going to just disappear. I have bought a dog from Iveta, too, and I don't think you'll have any trouble with her, but I might question why you are buying from overseas when you're looking for a family pet and such similar dogs can be found far more locally. Shipping isn't super fun right now.

I would say that is totally dependent on bloodlines. I have a line that I won't sell the females to homes with novice female handlers. I have others where the males are just easier-going, too. My girls from similar lines as the bottom are way more "fiery" than the boys. If you are male, maybe a female would be better. If you are female, maybe choose a male.

Temperament and capability depend on genetics and environment. Puppies in the same litter will have common characteristics, but there are subtle and obvious differences, too. The breeder may have a puppy in a litter that on paper looks very drivey, but is less so than what might be predicted. Good breeders evaluate their puppies and match them with appropriate owners/purposes based on their individual characteristics. I have no experience with the breeder you're considering, but if he/she is experienced and reputable, the puppy in question might be perfect for your purposes.

Females can be extremely intense and have a lot of initiative, just like males. Depending on the purpose, this is perfect. The female I have now is like having a Siberian Husky in a German Shepherd body :-) I originally got her for law enforcement and handler protection. She's not the first German Shepherd I've ever owned, but she's definitely the most "nuts." She does very well with pretty much anything, so long as she gets to burn off enough energy (E = mc2) and I'm consistent, fair, and firm.

My dog's *almost perfect* in every way (I'm seriously biased), but she would not have been a good dog for a first-time GSD owner unless the person had experience with/owned other working dogs (including Sibes). Or, was going to train the dog for law enforcement/similar with supervision of a kennel master or in an established training program, or was committed to early and ongoing substantial training/activity, such as active participation in a PSA/Schutzhund/Ring/etc. club. Or personal/property protection, dock diving, agility, SAR, herding, service dog for an active handler, etc. The bottom line is she needs to have a job. This is true of any drivey dog, regardless of breed.

FWIW, I'm female and prefer working with female dogs.

Granted the kennel name is not that bad, but there are many USA kennel names just as bad or WORSE... I just could not think of them right now.

I think a WL will have higher energy. At the same time these dogs are smart so if you come up with a plan to train and give a “job” (basic Obedience, schutzhund, or other - there are plenty of options so it will depend on your time and interests) will be fine. Any large breed dog will need some sort of training to contain the energy level. Good luck with the purchase! :)
