Baerenfangs Erbe

Between running my shop we've been busy training and venturing out in sports. His son is alrady going for the Ring1, we'll be shooting for the Brevet first. There is a Mondio Brevet coming up in July. Let's see if we can get ready for it.

BE.... Thank you for sharing this video clip . Super GS ... whatever my opinion is worth - I like your dog !!! YOU have done a fantastic interacting with him . I appreciate his poise and self control within his performance and I applaud his ability .. It is only fitting and right that this is acknowledged- I admire you and your dog . As I said before an ambassador for the German shepherd love the work you put in with your dog. For some one with a disability to be willing to do the work would put alot to shame sometimes and Include myself too. So for me be very proud of yourself.

Now for your dog what I see is a dog that is very open to learn has power but can control himself i also see a dog that is working for you and not for himself and that shows me the bond between the 2 of you is very strong. I'd also say Very stable and level in his drive love a dog with this ballance. Best of luck in the future

Baerenfangs Erbe how old this dog?
looks good and seems you both doing well but that music overlay somewhat did ruined video.
how the dog is barking/growls can add plenty about the dog itself.

b.t.w. just my opinion - shot outside at beginning, decoy petting the dog during dog's attack.
that is very common and quite absurd gesture i really hate to see.

I am not sure what you mean, there wasn't much barking in the video and he doesn't growl on the bite. During the defense of handler there were a couple frustration barks but that was about it. Thanks guys, it means a lot. He's one hell of a dog. He's just got it all. I'm super happy with how we are progressing. Today, for the first time I felt really good about our obedience because he was super flashy today. We've basically got all the elements now we just have to get the reliability in and make sure it sticks even in the trial picture. The best part about this dog is that despite doing bitework, his task training is so generalized that he will still pick up my crutch from the ground and go right back to bitework.

I have no video from today but I've got one from the day we did the long bite and whistle recall for the first time. :)

BTW . in many protection sports there is not a lot of barking . In defense of handler the dog is not even required to vocalize or bark .
Personally , that is one reason I don't like Sch/IPO - the bark and hold. To me that is a foolish exercise. I know all about then theory of that exercise .. I know .. and the judges want to see an expression of power. To me stupid thinking ! My biased opinion . I look at how fast and powerful the entry into the person is The fullness and strength of the bite and the grip . THAT is the power I want to see , not an exhaustive vocalization that zaps the energy out of the dog with very little action of purpose. just saying ... dog can guard with diligentence and with a vengeance, silently . One time someone came to my house , an acquaintance. Some of my dogs came running to the pen fencing . One dog was trained in personal protection . The man pointed him out and said , 'gosh , I thought he was going to go through the wire fencing ". I said : "  you think he is fierce ! , See that female standing there quiet , she is THE one  to worry about . More than he is .. she is in stealth mode just waiting to take a piece out of you ! "
There is an expression in English for pet dogs " barking dogs don't bite ': meaning worry about the dog that bites first and then barks later ...
BE... I wouldn't worry about someone hearing your dog bark ... he has a good enough bite  :-)

Oh yeah, I know exactly what you mean with the quiet and intense stealth. Athos does that too. I kid you not, and I am really not, he's made people walk backwards out the door at my shop because of how intense he quietly stares someone down and stalks them with their gaze. His paws basically clawing into the carpet holding himself back. It's like a Lion stalking his prey. I really need to make a video about that.
