Tape them immediately! They should have started being taped a few months ago, but it may not be too late. I had to tape the ears of my female, we tried a few different methods but sponge rollers are what finally worked. I expected to only have to tape them for a couple weeks but it ended up taking a few months of re-adjusting and trying to avoid the skin being irritated and sore from the tape. Keep them in as long as you can, if you take them off too early they may stay up for a few days but fall if they are not strong enough. Im sure you will get a number of different methods. I suggest you take him to someone who has taped GSD ears before if you can. Good luck, Melanie

Instead of using tape, use the self-sticking gauze wrap. It doesn't pull out hair or cause soreness and air is able to flow through. It is easy to remove and is reusable. The dog will get used to having it on and leave it alone in a day or two. Do each ear individually (inserting the large sponge rollers as Melanie suggested) then connect them together to hold them up, using a continuious piece between them, bridged across the head. It goes without saying, but weak ears are not good to pass onto progeny....I hope this dog wasn't intended for breeding purposes and is a pet you just want to have errect ears. :) Good luck!

No... the dogs been neutered. I dont know if it is a recessed gene or something happened. The parents ears are fine.
