does anybody have an idea upto what age a pup will gr0w? my pup is 8 mos old and his almost as tall as my adult gsd who measures 26 in at the withers? and also his head is not as big or massive in relation to his body. i was told that his sire ursus topolovnicki has a very massive head and that his dam has a good head size also. upto what age should i wait til this dog will have a mature structure? and is it true that ursus v batu progenies are late maturing gsd's? thank you

With 8 months old a dog will have been changing a lot until two years old, the head will change and it will look much biger when it develops its chest. A lot good dogs dont have sucess just because the owners dont wait until it becames mature. With 3 years old a male will look powerfull!

I agree with Jose'. A male takes much longer to develop the secondary sex characterics that make him appear as a male. Most of the male puppies that I have sold go to pet/companion homes, and of course the new owner's veterinarian wants to neuter them at six months. I always tell the owners to please wait until the male is three years old. The testosterone not only causes his male features to become pronounced-it also develops his attitude as a male-he is not confused.

"Boys" take forever to mature...sometimes! If you question his "masculinity" appearance right now??....I agree with the two posts before me...wait to neuter. Vets will tell you that neutering doesn't affect the masculinity of the dog....YES it does! The reason a male looks like a male is because of testosterone!....remove the testosterone early and you stand a great chance of him not developing the "male" look fully. My opinion is from trial and error...experience. However;...it's only my opinion.
