sunshine, Sorry Im not god nor a psychic either.. I do not know how much that EVERY breeder in the world charges for their puppies.. Do you? If so can you send me your list? If I were to send you a Link to a breeders website that doesn't have the price marked down... would you be able to figure out how much the pups are without having to contact the breeder? If so then please tell me your secret! :) Just remember some breeders only want people to email them if their very serious about buying the dog... EVEN know the breeder didnt even put down the price in their ads! That is what confuses me the most.

and Brittany why would you think that those breeders are going to answer this topic on this site. But you know that you have brought this subject up many times and then gripped about the priceses, if you don't want to pay the price of German bred dogs then go and look at the American dogs, I think you can get one for around $50.00 -$800.00 that seams more in your price range. Het, you said: "why would you think that those breeders are going to answer this topic on this site." To show that they are honest? and show that their not pricing people differently? And not hiding the fact that they are ashame of how they over charge their potential costumers so they keep it a secret until a sell is reached? Dog breeding is a business... in business world you don't HIDE stuffs from potential buyers... like hiding prices. It doesn't happen like that. you also said "if you don't want to pay the price of German bred dogs then go and look at the American dogs, I think you can get one for around $50.00 -$800.00 that seams more in your price range." Why on earth do i need to switch over to the crappy american dogs? Why do i need to be rich in order to get a nice dog that I can work with? Lets not forget, also that Im going to be doing FREE advertizement for the breeder as i enter trials with their kennel name that they forced me to register with on the AKC papers.... It should be the other way around... breeders should be paying back for advertizement fees. you last said " I think you can get one for around $50.00 -$800.00 that seams more in your price range. " Are you my financial record? You have no idea whats in my bank so you have no right to decide this for me. ALPHAPUP I strongly agree with ya there! I would love to buy puppies from you in the future! you are the kind of breeder that i truely respect... i just wish that all breeders has your mentality of wanting to improve the breed, rather than their wallet size :)

The big problem with most German breeders is lack of tranparency in their business dealing. They "hide" the price of their dogs until the very last moment. They do not give you all the info that you request unless you insist many times (for example, video, show record, proof of progeny etc.) When asking for the price of an adult dog one well known breeder of show lines even asked me that I tell him first how much I was willing to pay for his dog, then of course he was "offended" by my offer. In this regard most (not all) american breeders are more "honest": they como up-front with price and all revelant info. There is nothing wrong with having a business, including dogs, but there are good business practices and bad business practices. The german breeders should know that they are loosing a great asset: people confidence.

britney it is very easy to see what you want to pay because you bitch enough about prices that people are chargeing.... I dont' hide my prices of pups...it is listed on the puppy page. The only time that that price will change is when the puppy is older and has been in training. I don't have pups just sit here and wait for a buyer..they start training at 8wks old, so the longer they are here the more I charge for them...because they have had more training, and that is also posted on thier pages. If those breeders were honest don't you think they would post thier prices on thier own personal website??and most people here have fake names so why do you think that if they are not willing to put it on their own site that they would do it here under thier real name?? And it is a choice if you want to show, and I think that alot of breeders do give money back for those that get titles on thier dogs...I know I do...and I have seen this on alot of sites...doesnt' mean that I am going to give you the dog for free....or half price just because you are going to show.

vfg, I think the German breeders are very open and tell you right out what their puppy prices are. But they do not distinguish between show promise and pet. A long coat will cost just as much as the stock coat. One price for all. There are substantial differences in price but in no way as extreme as here in the USA because the base price is already lower. With older dogs, there may be a difference. I communicated on a female awhile back and was told she was already sold but the seller wanted to know what I would offer for her (this person was not German). I had a very straight forward communication with a German breeder on a female he was selling and wound up purchasing her. He did not repeatedly advertise her on this site although it took a week for me to get to Germany and see her in person. He reserved her on good faith. It was an excellent experience and I consider myself lucky. Dealing with strangers always bears a risk. This risk however goes 2 ways. This person also did not know me and I could have been just as iffy. But taking a risk and realizing that there are some very honest and good people out there made my purchase a most enjoyable experience.

vfg I have bought several working lines from Germany and Belgium and I have never encountered the situation you are describing. I have never had any dealings with show line. The working line people I dealt with were very open and the prices and the scores of the dogs I bought were known after the second email and I have been pretty fortunate and have always got what I paid for. I always checked out references in the USA from other people who had imported dog from the people I bought the dogs from.
