Every dog is different. There is no table for ages for putting some pressure on an animal. Best is to read the dog, and then see how he/she responses to the pressure and go from there!

Some say they don't fully develop their defence drives until they're about 3 years old.  Its a long slow process converting prey into defence and I see lots of people trying to get too much too soon.

Saying that my 7 month old pup is low in prey and quite high in defence already, which sounds good, but its a big problem trying to balance that out and get a clear headed working dog at the end of the day.

It all depends on the dog and having very good helpers to work with it.  Don't be afraid to take it slow, it can bite you in the bum (sometimes literally) otherwise.

I did not think it was an age thing so much as an individual dog and where it is in training thing......
