Yr dog bites hard...so fukin what, my neighbours bulldog bites hard to. you think a dog that bites hard is a claim to breed superiority? how many dogs you actually seen?
Hey i just don't like having my face rubbed into it by the mal/dutchie guys.
if you post breed vids don't make a fool of the rest of us by claiming some sort of breed superiority if you don't have evidence.
that vid shows best of nothing about the gsd.

VK4, i am not sure what breed superiority means, we all like our breeds, we all learned to live with changes, however, have you ever seen ANYONE come in here and claim that their dog is not the best?
Ever met a cop or a sport person who does not believe they have the most, the best.....whatever dog?
How many times have you seen someone come in and say "My dog really sucks at tracking or bite work"? It will never happen, everyone needs to praise their animals because they believe they are the best. Being objective has no place in the dog world and people get "married" to their breeds.

HD did you read the op?
Did you see the vid?
Did you match the claim made in the op with the evidence in the vid?
Lemme guess no, no and no.
sure everyone should think their own dog is the best. but at some point the community should consider the fearsomr prospect of objectivity over fantasy if our generation is the current custodian of the breed.
at age 70 do you want all the 30 year old pinpointing the next slide of the breed to be us now like we are doing about the split in the 70's/80's.
so we can be the next bunch of geriatrics claiming how great our dogs were in the day and how it's all gone to shit.

HD here is some objectivity for you, and you can quote me on this;
Fuk breed and fuk the breed purity concept and fuk the standard. they are the axis of evil and the spiral of death to the working dog. read the history of any working breed.
breeds, standards and breed purity is the domain of the fancy not the practical working dogman.
too much to explain, take my word for it or not. makes no difference to me

VK4, I have talked about this before, here is the short version of it. People who are really into their breed sometimes become "blind". They get too involved, they get too emotional and they fail to see their breed for what it is actually becoming. This is true about all breeds, not just the GSD. ALL former "protection" dog breeds have suffered, NONE are what they used to be 40 years a go.
You can blame many factors for that, I have zero interest in starting the usual war, show VS work, but, when you MUST separate one breed in two parts, nothing good will come out in the end.
You cant worship two masters, one will suffer at the other's expense. Either you have a WORKING dog or you dont and currently other breeds have taken the title of the best working dog on the planet.
Now, if you are "married" to a breed, you lose objectivity. If you are are more into one aspect of it, you lose objectivity. Again, how many times have you seen anyone come in here and proclaim their dog is a POS?
Yes, you are correct, in 20 years ALL working dogs will be a thing of the past, thats something I accepted long a go, its the way society is demanding we go.
90% of people want a pet, not a "real" dog that can actually do what it was once bred to do. Fanciers are screaming and yelling about proper breeding, but, that also depends on what you fancy and what your target market is. If you bred dogs like those you had guarding the wall 30-40 years a go, who would buy them?
Personally, I think the Malinois is THE breed as far as work, but, I am not married to it nor am I blind to its shortfalls. I know that many of them suffered with nerve problems and many more need to be put down. If this breed died out tomorrow, I will find another, I dont care what it is. Being in love with your breed or your partner is great, being wake or objective is even better.

Too true but will never quiet disappear. there are people that have never been part of the fancy or the internet .
they stay invisible as they can afford to, that culture will still be around in 20 years.

Let this economy and society continue on the current downward spiral and there will be a demand for dogs like the ones guarding the wall 40 years ago.

Joan, now THAT is true!
