| German Shepherd Dog | V1 CH (UK) Antilli Nathalie | Here is an example of this database/notice board being a great thing - I hadn't heard from anyone about Nathalie, and now I read here she is gone. Its always devastating to lose a dog you love, but perhaps more so when it is responsible for so much in a kennel - having won her title (never easy for a sable) she has also produced for Antilli in each of her litters and was an example of a truly solid GSD character, producing the same. Im glad I saw her last year, and Im truly sorry for Carol and Alyson on their loss. This, for me, the ONLY down side in the breed - giving your heart to a dog... and knowing it can only be for a limited time. Congratulations on all she and you guys acheived together. | German Shepherd Dog | VA1(B) VA3(S) V15 Uri vom Amulree IPO3 | Shinto - as a relatively new breeder (though I was associated with another kennel from the late 80s) I have NOT used Uri - but wish I had, even now, a suitable female to take to him. I have his half brother in my kennel - Zorro Amulree, whom I have used on two females. I have two Amulree females in the kennel from his mother line Amulree yazz also. Fiona and Isobel Anderson are good friends of ours and I have had the opportuninty to see much of Uri's influence - Im sure I have said before on this database, if I could have taken any one of their excellent females from them it would have been his excellent, hugely typical daughter ASPARKY. Tho his grandaughter Babette was hard to overlook! Asparkys worth as a brood will be evident in the near future I am sure. With regards to who has used him - I believe he never stood at stud in the UK so pet passport would have been required - and for many people the lure of high rated germans would have left Uri overlooked. This of course is no longer Heiko's record - it was taken off of him by Ch Gayvilles Nilo - so Uri would have to 'regain' the record for Amulree. However - I would think the financial implications of Uri coming to the UK for 52 shows would be a bit much for the owners. He could of course have been left with friends (tho I cant see Fiona managing that wrench) but why chase a record in the UK with a dog who has achieved so much abroad. How difficult for a dog with even a hint of UK lineage to attain a VA grade in Holland, V15 in germany - a spectacular feat, and get ANY useage at stud. Uri pretty much a record breaker in his own right I would have thought. Since we're on the subject - hats off to Nilo for attaining that record too. Nero is a great favourite of mine too, he has produced some excellent animals as time will no doubt show. I am lucky enough to have a beautiful daughter of his in Demi vom Amulree,(on this site)who has a character and attitude like nothing I have met in 17 years of shepherds, She is a delight. Her breeder has retained her sister 'Darcy' truly one to watch for. Regardless of the ins and outs of the Nero story - IMO a great loss to the breed.
