Trump has tapped into a core of hatred, anger, bigotry, and misogyny that is frightening in its escalation.  His followers at rallies have no qualms about being violent to those who ask difficult questions (female news reported how asked about affirmative action and was assaulted by Trump's campaigne manager as he tried to pull her down and throw her to the ground, witness by other news reporters) or disagree (violently ejected after a call by Trumpt to do so) with Trump.  He has been quoted as telling people to "beat the crap out of them and I'll pay your legal fees", "I want to punch them in the face", and called out insults to an overweight man for being on food stamps, a disabled man Trump made fun of, supporting the idea that Autism is just children being spoiled adn not a real neurological disorder, pointing out a Sikh at his convention and telling his supporters to get him out of here, calling him a Muslim terrorist (huge difference between Sikhs and Muslims) pointing out a few females in Hijabs and telling his supporters to get them out which they did and not very gently, the assault on a black woman that Trump made a disparaging comment to, the list is long and distinguished by his bigotry and misogyny.

So far, there has been one 78 year old dude who gave one "disrupter" an elbow. And talk about drama! This young strong guy was next seen writhing on  the floor.

Give me a break! Same old media using drama aimed at nursing their pride because they were being relegated irrelevant by The Donald.

At this point I’m not quite sure whether it is more amusing than disturbing to watch the proverbial lambs willingly, happily be lead to slaughter. Yes –the “script” as Bee suggests dominates both the dissemination of opinion and ideas as well the response. The ugly reality is that yes, in answer to the queries, the current political climate is a hyper-sensitive and constipatingly PC environment wherein the tail of the media and its pundits continues to wag the sensibilities of the US public with relative ease. It takes little more than a few hurt feelings by way of coarse word or the casting about of a false or misleading buzzword-laden narrative to prime the mob to ready the gallows or induce much of the paranoia observed here. So endemic is the wrong-thinking and lack of reason that completely unsubstantiated accusations are carelessly and mindlessly thrown about in a display of either epic ignorance or some sick, maligned perversion which effectually attacks the integrity of the victim and his supporters, but also works to insult and disparage members of entire racial groups who support those candidates.
If this epidemic of sensationalistic, reality show-gone-evening soap style of political discourse took place in a vacuum its entertainment value might exceed the insidiousness of the consequence. While some are held hostage by unfounded fears of devil-behind the door –ism’s, the authors of their true demise continue to weave the nightly CNN/FOX fairy tales subscribed to. While we wait in anticipation for our next fix, another 10 years passes without a single one of those yielding +3% GDP. Despite this sobering fact, we continue to believe that somehow suppression and submission takes on colorful hues of blue and red shapes on a screen while the cold green reality of 7.5 billion people finds just 62 of them in possession of half the wealth, and therefore power. When we should be indignant toward legislation and legislators who wield the power of government to these ends, we instead bother about which federal whore will turn tide and represent the constituents rather than the MNC’s and lobbyists. Yes, even on the watch of the most liberal potus in the history of the US have the people been fleeced in a move (TPP) we believe only those evil, greedy republicans capable of.
Nations can easily recover from the terms of poor, inept, and ineffective leaders, but recovering from careless, thoughtless engagement in civic matters has proven fatal to a myriad of peoples throughout history. What began with Van Buren’s revolutionary new method of campaigning during Jackson’s run accelerated tremendously with Eisenhower and Nixon and has since grown into the complete bastardization of US political participation we are currently experiencing.

Sometimes it just takes an idiot to think people are being led like lamb and then acting like they are above others all the while they are actually being led themselves. ^ Can you say condescending?

 

Mindhunt you forgot about the veterans he made fun of, the ones the conservatives oh so like to say they support. When the words come right out of the mans mouth there is no sensationalism except by the Dump. I am really laughing at the above hypocrisy.

Carlin is far from an idiot and you are actually better than your last comment. Just take a deep breath and try to rebut his POV with something that shows some depth to your own thought.

Name calling is not really productive, except for seeking some kind of group approval.

Again, dredging up what amounts to old news. Dinner was delicious so give me second to digest! I want to share an example  of what is being dribbled out as responsible journalism. Made me laugh, so I hope it makes everyone here chuckle along, too.

I myself, am avoiding name calling here on a personal basis and hope I am succeeding ---even when I sense some real ugliness is brewing.

I claim to be more tolerant than most and so far, I think I have been consistent in my words and deeds.

Let us just get back to addressing each other's points of contention without having to throw someone off my proverbial cliff! OK?
