To answer Yellow Rose's and Sunsilver's point, I apologise for being a
bit obscure by referring to 'christian' moralising. This thred is for Quotations;
'Mountain Lion' was quoting that poster as relevant - to the date and
to the topic. Because I read the ref. to BBQs as an attack on the
bereaved girl's clothing, and because ML is one of the posters who
almost always takes some part in religious topics, I took it that some
christians were in authorship of that strap line. i.e. some religious
dictat of what is 'appropriate' dress & behaviour for visiting graves.
Because I was moved by the picture, my awareness of and reaction to
the injustice of some people was heightened. And I find that 'believers',
of any religion, are the people who might make such censorious noises.
(Rightly or wrongly, I do not expect atheists to ever say anything on those lines).
BTW I didn't put Mary Elizabeth Frye's credit to the (slightly mangled by me)
first line of her beautiful poem; it is of course not an 'atheist' poem, but one
I nevertheless appreciate, and hope others do.

Moons,
Of course you are vague. You never had that conversation with me. I must have missed your war experiences post. Pretty sure you only know other people who went to war, not yourself. Maybe it was BE4U you conversed with?
Pretty much you only make knowing noises about things, past, present and future. IMHO
What a hoot though that the bickering has taken over the quote thread.
ML,
Some folks are the joke, don't you think? They try so hard to be smug and superior. And then they just are not "all that" to begin with.
"Same as it ever was."

Very very true Bee...
They indeed try to be smug and superior...but the bottom line IMO is they are just part of the miserable refuse pile...
What a way to go thru life, thank God, most of us aren't like that...

Sheesh! What a tempest in a teapot!
Let's get this thread onto a different track!

Are you two a couple now?
Your starting to sound alike as many old couples do.
Superior?
Hell yes, every day of the week, every minute that passes, and don't blame me for your position in the food chain, or your genetic misfortune.
In my opinion memorial day tends to glorify the warrior and war itself, when what we should be remembering are the innocent victims who had no choice in their deaths and the destruction of war.
In truth, most people are just glad to have a day off, they don't even think about much else but wave the flag anyway.
Go to the wall sometime, they have a small version that travels the country, read the names to yourself and then ask yourself, what did they die for?
Let me know if you come up with an answer, don't expect me to agree with it though unless you actually get it right.
i doubt that will ever come to pass as you know nothing of war.

Hello Sunsilver,
didn't see you at first.
My guote for the day,
"Shit Happens"
It's how you deal with it that makes the difference.
I hope your well.

We now have the honor of witnessing Moon's trivialities and narcissistic exercises in self-esteem.
More commonly known as SSDD

If that's all you got out of it, so be it.....LOL

Hi, Moons! How did your eye surgery turn out?
Hope things are better!

ML:
I don't have the desire to even try the disabuse of Moon's conceptions. Too much smoke and too many mirrors! Just not worth my time.
