Two Moons

jenni,
He has a light vent.   Color up the inside of all four legs.
He's bicolor.
Moons.

Well if his vent is light, then he is bicolor.

My bitch has color between her toes but she is black even around the vent.

your male dog looks like a black with bleeding to me, too - he has distinct color around his vent?  Strange, wouldn't  have guessed it.

I wouldn't have guessed it either. It's light fur-and not just a lack of fur?

The strange part was that none of this color showed up until he was a year of age.
Yeah his vent is marked for sure.

I don't take good pictures.

so, his vent wasn't tan at birth?  It was black?  Or, was his vent tan at birth and the other bleeding showed up later.  If his vent was black at birth,  he's genetically black.  I've heard of the bleeding around the vent as well as the legs, haven't seen it for myself. But I know that if the pup has no tan around the vent at birth, it's a black pup (genetically).  I guess you will know if you breed your dog to a black female and get 100% black puppies.  If he is genetically a bicolor, that means he carries a black/tan gene and will produce black/tan or bicolor - if he is black, he will not produce it unless the female carries it.

He has faults and will never breed.
I didn't notice any coloring until one year old.     Can't say I raised his tail on a regular basis, but all the coloring showed up about the same time and took several months to complete.
Both his parents were blacks but I didn't raise their tails either.   He was extremely inbred and the breeder has since died.
This was a lesson learned for me.

Geez get a load of the neck size of that Monster of Molly's! After watching clips from he AKC show, I'm seeing why they looked so pin headed and thin necked to me. That boy looks like a linebacker.

Personally I do not prefer the larger head but thats just me, same with the white marks.
For me appearance is as much a factor as ability.    I want both.

Molly has some fine dogs as do many people who I have spoken to lately.     Sadly most or either too far away or priced beyond my range.

I'm still looking.
