Two Moons

by Two Moons on 02 April 2009 - 04:04

Nooooo,
I'm a very strange man.
I liked the falcons too.

by angusmom on 02 April 2009 - 04:04

my first car was a 63 comet, white with red leather interior; it cost me all of $375 ($100 was for insurance). that car took me 4 wheeling thru the anza-borrego desert when i was in college. i wish i had it back. my dad has a 40 ford coupe and a 63 impala. he and mom win lots of awards at car shows. they used to have a 41 chevy sedan too, but they sold it to get their harley. daddy will be 80 this month. i mostly drive a dodge durango - i can fit 7 people, 2 shepherds, 3-4 guitars and 5 full backpacks in that thing, altho it is tight. i also drive a sierra crewcab longbed duelie (sp?). i can only fit a total of 5 people and the dogs, plus gas is a killer. my husband gave me a license plate (when we got it) that says "silly boys, trucks are for girls". i like my husband alot. most of the time. i also had a 76 fiat spider. loved it for a long time. learned to drive the streets and steep hills of san francisco in that little beast. a very quick way to learn to drive a stick shift.
that freisian is my favorite horse breed of all time. i looked into them about  12-13 yrs ago - they were going for about $15,000 to 20,000 for a good one then - way outa my league. there were 2 in the last san dimas western days parade - what a pleasure they are to watch!!!! i am just green.....(thank goodness it's my favorite color)

i will try to get pix from the folks, but it'll take a bit of time and my son will have to post them. sorry, i am not technologically gifted.....
he actually has had it in a rapper's (or hip hop?) video. the guy's name is Q-Tip. his 41 chevy (and i think the 40 ford) were used in scenes for "bugsy", but were later edited out. daddy has always had cool cars.

Dads always do....lol
Mine had a pair of 48 Mercurys, customized, chopped, all tricked out for their day, built by a man for himself and his wife.
They made the car shows too, back in the sixties tho.  Back then they thought a phone was futuristic, and the one had a phonograph built in.   The couple divorced and the cars were sold at auction.
One disappeared and the other was featured in a custom car magazine.
I don't have a picture.

the folks cars have been in magazines from time to time. growing up, daddy would buy some old car, mom would ferry all the kids (5) around in it, daddy would get it fixed up and sell it and go on to the next one... even our station wagons were very cool - 4 on the floor, mags etc. i think i've had more heart to heart talks with my dad with him underneath a car than anywhere else. of course, now that he's getting up in years, he needs a little more supervision...couple years ago, he didn't tie up his (almost) waist length grey hair and it got caught in the fan belt....pulled him in and knocked him nearly out! mom yelled at him at one point for dinner, no response, and figured he just wasn't listening, found him later sitting against the garage with a nice chunk of hair missing and a bloody scalp. after being happy he wasn't dead yet, i couldn't stop laughing. i suppose, at some point, i will also turn into the child for my son to laugh at and worry over..... picture willie nelson at 6'1" and that's my dad. i can't tell you how many people have chased us over the years.."willie, willie"... geez, if they were REAL fans, they'd know willie was quite a bit shorter! daddy loves it....
i'm going to bed, i'll see about the pix

Sunsilver

My husband loved Volvos. Since he owned a sixplex apartment building, he prefered wagons, because they were like small trucks for hauling stuff to the building to do maintenance.

The Volvo he was driving when we first met was pretty much rusted out. He'd had the engine redone, but the body was on its last legs. He told me not to slam the doors too hard, or a piece might fall off!

Anyway, very shortly, he decided a new car was in order, so he purchased a '91 wagon with automatic transmission. As he drove it off the lot, the salesman, who was a good friend of his, said, "Enjoy your courting car!"

We married in August of '92, and he drove that thing throughout our entire marriage, even refusing to let the insurance company write it off when he rear-ended somebody at an intersection, and did major damage to the front end.

By the time he was dying in hospital, the poor thing was on its last legs. It wouldn't pass the emissions test, and needed a very lengthy and expensive list of repairs to pass the safety check if I'd wanted to sell it.

About a month before he died, I traded it in when I bought out the lease on my Toyota Corolla.

I couldn't hold back the tears as I handed the keys over to the business manager....

At his funeral, I found out pretty much the WHOLE FAMILY was in tears when he'd traded in the Volvo they'd owned while his kids were growing up!  (I was wife #2. He had 2 sons from his first marriage.)

Ridiculous how we get attached to these inanimate objects, isn't it?

A car for all seasons...we were taking the canoe to the shop to have some repairs done on it!
A little bit of creative cut n' paste photoshopping makes it look like we had 2 GSD's

So, 3crzygsds, what do you think now about the craziness of horse people vs dog people?? LOL...not much difference, huh?

Kind of a weird cause you know when you compete with horses it is really not a team sport its you and your horse...but with dogs obviously it is you and your dog then you get this whole club thing and people with TONS of opinion!
Which we have in horses...but seems some dog people (could be setting my self up for some abuse) will beat you over the head with their opinions and want you to accept them..
I always am grateful for knowledge and information but try to get it from the best sources available and that I can afford.
So if a person that took 10xs to get a BH is trying to convince me of something I just smile and say thanks but that never seems enough a little more argumentative..... it gets crazy crazy.
And that is just a little tip of the iceberg otherwise I have met alot of great people and there are alot of similarities in the training although when I try to get the bit in Voxi's mouth she does growl alittle (lol)!
Have a great thursday everyone!
1 day til weekend...and spring is here YEAH!

PS -It is a tough call....in the crazy dept! And as for expenses well...the hotels are just the same costs, trials a little cheaper.....and no stable costs but training adds up!
