Not a whole lot different from the cash register at Pet Smart asking me for a $1 everytime I shop there. Sometimes I give, sometimes I don't and I have no idea where the $10-20 per year is actually going (that's what I figure it ads up to). At least in this case I knew where the money was going and I hope we find out what the outcome is for Maya.My county is in the midst of prosecuting an animal hoarding case and in December the county seized over 200 animals, primarily dogs. Petsmart Charities loaded up a semi with over 30K worth of supplies (crates, food, bowls, leashes, etc) and had their truck driver drive through Christmas Eve and Christmas to get to our county in time for when the seizure was going to take place. Those supplies were essential in that case. So just an FYI, your 10-20 bucks made a difference in my county. Thanks :-)

Most rescues make the best choice for the welfare of the dog. In this case, if the vets and rescues think it will help , go for it.
I had the same surgery done on a 7 yr old female rescue, GSD that had hip dysplasia. She was limping so bad and hurting, she was a wonderful dog, so I had the surgery done...it was only $400 then but worked wonderfully. She went on to play, run with the pack and loved to swim. As a matter of fact she is on the right hand side of the green ball in my Avatar. Her name was Reese, Sadly I lost her last year after she was given a rabies shot...11 yrs old and going strong till the shot...
I wish the best for Maya and all that have pitched in to help.

Someone just busted up a puppy mill in Indiana the other day.
So many animals. They go on and on about placing these animals.
Bad genetics, healthy problems, how is this helping?
How many animals just like Maya do you think there are?
How many will end up right back where they began and what do these animals have to endure just to survive.
Yes there are wonderful stories but what are the odds against the numbers of animals involved.
I'll make no apologies for my views.
Whats more important, your emotions, or the well being of the animal.
And even if you don't want to hear it there are children all over the world who suffer greater pain and they are aware of the difference.
You have the right to do whatever you like, but I say some of you have your priorities all screwed up.
If it makes you happy so be it.

Most certainly there are humans, and all sorts of other animals that are in need. All you need to do is walk the streets of any major city out there to see the crap that goes on in this world. Look at the whole "I am a Celebrity,,," show. They are collecting for charities in this country, when there are tons of children in Costa Rica eating out of the open landfills along side the dogs. I think thats where they should have had the show!
Top it off and there is Miss. Patty, earning money to defend hubby in court. Why the heck are they getting paid to work for a charity, WTF!
Knowing that we can help somewhere, just a little, and give some comfort somewhere helps. The big picture is too much for any one alone to handle.
Thanks for letting me know of one project that my donations have helped, I will continue to do so!

If you want to help someone give your time. Not your money.
That way you know what does the most good, you can see it in a smile.

You do not need to look at other countries to see the problem of people just look in your own streets where you live, the down and outs merly surviving and most do not want it that way, but the local councils give little or no help, But, if you are an immigrant coming into the country you get every thing, i have seen it in the UK when they got three times as much as i did when i was out of work for 11 months i only survived on 54 USA a week, they got a place to live, rent paid, television then a lot of the girls got pregnant and then came a house and the out of work boy friend moved in thay lived a life of luxury.
ME, i still only got my 54 USA dollars a week and i had been born there and paid taxes for 40 years
I make no apologies for the above, and it is the same over here in Belgium, i have no time for any of this rubbish of immigrants , I moved to Belgium bought my own house, they give me nothing my pension comes from England which i earned and entitled to
I go to school to try and learn Dutch, i am not obliged to go, the immigrants have to go it is compulsory for them to do so, yet what happens it is like a kids class throwing bits of paper etc at each other, no person who wanted to learn could concentrate, so i had to leave after 3 months i had not learned a thing except waste three months of my time every day was a play day for them they did not want to learn, twice i warned one Guy aged about 35 years old acting stupid and showing up to the girls, then i took him outside and he did not come back to school not a good thing to do on my part but these people will take and give nothing back, it is for these that i have no respect for, we know not all are the same but most are that way
Regards the Pup, i recieved no commuication from these people asking for help with the Pups fees, i fully expect it has been read by them so i will now retract the offer, it does show me though how much they really think of the Pups needs, when they let thee feelings take priorty over an offer which would help this Pup so they think.
YES, it does make me wonder about some people
