Yes that must be it!  You have found us out! Vickie, myself and anyone else who disagrees with you is "baiting you".

Thank you John, for a very direct answer to my question.  Sue, you make perfect sense to me, I don't find it a moral issue either.

I am not in the Schh world but just finished up a four day AKC weekend.

We entered the show ring  "Just for fun" .

Now as for training I test my training skills. I have people I work with and that gives them a goal to look forward to after the training, sweat, cussing, and pain. LOL

We passed our CD title this weeedend with four legs under four different judges. I took 3 and 4th place.

My friend that trains with me finished her Rally Noice title and earned two legs towards her Cd title placing 1st place each time. So her hard work paid off.

I think everyone traines for their own reasons . But somewhere along the line most forget that it is to be FUN and enjoyable for both you and your dog.

Well I train, i train a lot, but never have titles a dog so far, nevertheless, my girls get the job done. The job the GSD was originally bred for. since i had to change locations and still am in the need to keep my dogs trained, I am looking back into Trails again, or "Trail affiliated" clubs. and to be honest, I am not sure at this moment if i ever want to go to a trail! sure i like the tasks for the dog in general, and I train them, plus a lot of other things...

but What is the trail anymore? What is the title really worth anymore? sometimes it seems so political and prestige oriented.... Is it bout the dog still or about the Ego of the handler? I enjoy training my dogs, having fun with them, beeing challenged and use their traits. I train, the same things that would be asked in a trail, but Trail seem often so much show, so much: who knows who and then you are someone, and the nose of the dog has to be pointing in a 45 degree angle towards the handler (just kidding, well exagurating... but I hope you get my point.)

Then there are the people that just deem a dog worthy of breeding if it has a title.... What about the dogs that didn't get a title but still do the job- the real ones out on the streets... are they not breedworthy? End of story? I think you can't train a pedigree!

all this agony and point colleting kinda keeps me from a trail right now (nonethe less my dogs do wht they were bred for) and Yes I would like to just go to a trail, see what falts we still have and what we need to improve on. So trail to test training. One thing still is in the back of my head, how much did the sport become a sport and to which extend is it still a breed test?
