now tell me kitkat - what does your previous posts have to do with a thread about who owns pictures? Nothing. Only about you, ranting and yelling and defending your own personal drama - again. Why don't you keep your own promise and stop, get off this board, go somewhere else, or stop posting. That would be nice.

well so much for this thread - it's all about kitkat and her loser ex personal drama now. waste of time opening it, if anyone wants to continue chatting about picture copyright, start a new thread and hope the drama-queen and king don't chime in uninvited.

don't bother researching further. The photographer owns the picture forever. You can buy it from the photographer if you want to use it and they can give you a "license" to use it for advertising or whatever use you agree upon at the time of sale. If you buy the picture, it still isn't yours. if you buy it for use on a website, then decide to use it in print ads, you can be sued if that wasn't part of the original agreement. A photographer can post, print, distribute their pictures anywhere and it does not give anyone the right ot take them,, EVER

WHAT ?? I WAS UNDER THE IMPRESSION THAT ONCE THE PICTURE IS OFFERED FOR SALE IT BECOMES PUBLIC DOMAIN ,..WHEN THE PHOTOGRAPHER POST'S SAID PIC ,..I'LL RESEARCH THIS FURTHER ,..
No need to research, it's wrong plain and simple. It totally depends on the license, which is determined by the photographer. Just because I sell a photo to person A doesn't mean that they can sell it to person B or that random person C gets to use it simply because it's for sale. That's like saying once a car leaves the assembly line it's "public domain" and any person that finds it can take it for themself. Um, no, not how it works. At all.

The above posts by Molly and Leisjers are correct. We are currently filing suit against another for using pictures we took for their website and marketing. Whoever takes the pictures owns them. There are a few exceptions, but they are rare, such as the photographer must have a legal right to be in the place the photo was taken, etc.
Our case involves use on a website for 2 years. The webiste is now down, however we are going to be awarded damages for each day the picture was posted, so there are sever consequences to the use of the pictures.
Good luck in working something out with the paper.

FYI-My pic is in the losers avatar. it's a pic that was taken at the trial I attended. It WAS taken BY a professional photographer, and stolen off his site, where pics are up for sale. He also has several other pics of the trial that day on his assault page. pics of John, shelley, Jackie and a few others who I don't know their names. he talks the same crap there, as he does here.
I'm sure all those whose pics were stolen like being affiliated with him. I KNOW I DON'T!!!!!Let him put a pic of his dog, or his girl in his avatar.
And again, I could really give a crap what you think Molly. When the bottom of the page lists YOU as owner of site, I'll quit posting OK!
I couldn't be any MORE ON TOPIC THAN I AM....
