Hi Dog Rules ,
The health care hear is the best in the world. The health care, I believe that Obama is pushing is far from the Canadian health care. You might be calling Obama dear now,but I believe you wil lnot be calling him that for much longer.
God bless
gouda

 Not True.
The U.S. has among the worst health statistics of all rich nations.

The U.S. does not have the best health care system in the world - it has the best emergency care system in the world. Advanced U.S. medical technology has not translated into better health statistics for its citizens; indeed, the U.S. ranks near the bottom in list after list of international comparisons.
Part of the problem is that there is more profit in a pound of cure than an ounce of prevention. Another part of the problem is that America has the highest level of poverty and income inequality among all rich nations, and poverty affects one's health much more than the limited ministrations of a formal health care system.

Americans are the most dissatisfied with the quality and quantity of their health care. Of the 10 largest industrialized nations, the U.S. ranked dead last in health care satisfaction, with an approval rating of only 11 percent. (3) There's no putting a positive spin on this statistic; any president with such a low approval rating would be impeached!

Perhaps the greatest reason why Europeans are healthier than Americans is because they have reduced poverty, especially child poverty.
The link between poverty and poorer health has long been proven. One survey reviewed more than 30 other studies on the relationship between class and health, and found that "class influences one's chances of staying alive. Almost without exception, the evidence shows that classes differ on mortality rates."
The American Journal of Epidemiology states that "a vast body of evidence has shown consistently that those in the lower classes have higher mortality, morbidity and disability rates" and these "are in part due to inadequate medical care services as well as to the impact of a toxic and hazardous physical environment."

studies from Harvard and Berkeley have proven that income inequality -- not just absolute poverty -- is equally important.
States with the highest levels of income inequality also have the highest mortality and morbidity rates. The reason why relative poverty matters is because prices and opportunities are relative too - the U.S. may have the best medical technology in the world, but at $10,000 a procedure, who can afford it?

About 50% of all US Bankruptcies are a result of Medical costs. its too expensive for most and it is run by Drug companies that have no interest in healing diseases, but treating symptoms.'

union masons are required to lay 800 bricks in an 8 your day, This was a long time ago, so I'm sure its much less now.

My father in law was a construction manager...........once the masons wanted to have a BBQ on the construction site. They asked, it was approved Friday came along and guess what.........

The day of the BBQ, the helpers came an hour early, they set the bricks the mixed the mortar, then the masons came at the usual time. The each had their days worth of bricks. Funny thing - each had completed their stack of 800 bricks in about 2 hours, and were taking it easy for the rest of the day - this is wrong!

Yes bricklaying is hard work, but the unions make it a bit too easy........and to expensive for construction companies to get things done........guess who ends up paying? you and me!

GM ended up with a similar deal only worse......if an assembly line completed the alloted amount of parts for a day, and decided to do more, it would be considered overtime and they would get overtime rates........the assembly lines could get the work done easily in 6 hours............and hours 7 and 8 they were paid extra...............no wonder GM has failed! This is wrong!

The union basically reduced the work week to 30 hours and think they can compete with the rest of the world......that;s just crazy..........and the union isn't backing down and is cutting off its nose to spite its face.........This is wrong!

I lived in Ann Arbor Michigan for 18 months, I knew 4 people who worked at car plants.......3 were on long term disability at 80% of there usual salary. So these guys who were too sick to work ........ they played softball, they rode horses, they cut the grass, they split logs.......they went to PT every week and complained.........they went to work the minimum of 3 months a year so they could continue getting their disability leave.................this is wrong.

Yes there WAS a time when unions were a good thing, but I'm afraid that time has passed.

BTW - ford granted the 40 hours work week ...........and he paid twice the going rate...........before there were unions.

Get your history right!

The average auto worker makes $27 an hour at GM. A nice living wage.
The quoted '$57' an hour is BS. That is $150,000 per year on a 40 hr week. No one makes that. Not a Union worker.
Thats a Zio Smear Job against Union workers.

the $57 comes from all the benefits - retirement, sick leave , healthcare......if you add it to the $27 it addes up to at least $57.

So like where else can some uneducated person get fricking $27 to turn a wrench - dusgusting!

my family is from Canada - if we are forced to copy them ...............be prepared to wait.

wait for everything

my uncle waited for 6 months for a stent...........and 5 months for prostrate surgery - he had cancer! They denied care to my aunt she was in so much pain for so many years that she shot herself in the head with a 410. She's no longer in pain.

last month my mom and dad visited a friend of the family who could no longer stand the back pain, he came to houston. come to fine out the the pain wasn't a disk problem it was prostrate cancer...........that went un-treated for 2  years. the doctors as MD Anderson couldn't do anything and he had to to home and tell his wife and 4 adopted children the he was going to die!

are you dumbasses who want the canadian health care system ready for this?

you know exactly how  your husband worked and maybe not even that.i agree the uaw has alot of unnecessary stuff in there contract but it was negotiated and signed by both sides.i dont get paid days off holidays or vacation.we work on veterans day to get the friday after thanksgiving off.not all union are the same, and not all trades within the same local have the same contract.you work non union all you want, personally i dont want to.safety is a big concern and frankly that is what is driving up the price of everything.i cant type fast enough to keep debating.
