Another method is to throw down something like a whole turkey. Let the dog eat as much as it wants, then put it away for a couple days. But my greedy bitch would eat the whole thing, and she DID once--an entire 13 lb turkey. She got raging farts and I didn't feed her for four days. So I don't care WHO says prey method is best, and my BF is one of them, I ain't living in my little house with 3 gassy GSDs!!

I agree with VM. I too feed a variety of proteins. The staples I feed are chicken frames/necks, turkey wings/necks, venison necks, pork necks, lamb necks. Also I do not feed any recreational bones.
As far as the total % fed to the dog, I would start with 2% of the dogs body weight. Even though my dog is very active if I were to feed him much more than 2% he would soon be heavier than I like, though I do keep him on the lean side.

Raw is digested and metabolised at a different rate than kibble, leading to all kinds of digestive problems, possibly even bloat.
When transitioning betweeen the two, best to fast the dog 24 hrs.
