Jyl,  I don't think it's too bad,  But I will say I have seen Natural Choice and specifically the lamb and rice sold in grocery stores...  Maybe not in your area but in ours...

There was something a while back I think it was posted here regarding Natural Choice,  but don't recall the specifics.

I feed Kirkland Chicken Rice and Vegetables. It is made with fresh human grade ingredients and is made by Diamond. Costco 19.49 40 lbs. It is a very high rated food for a good price!

This food is one I found at Wal-mart of all places. I had Alfie on it as a pup, he looked great, but I listened to the know it alls who said basically if it's at Wal-Mart it sucks. It's low quality and must be bad. Well....I asked who made it. The clerk didn't know, but I can tell you this... it's not made by Wal-mart, it's marketed through them, and it's not a Puina product. The ingredients look like something made by Eagle. Not saying it is, just like it. I wish I did know who made it, the ingredients are premium. I have sitting in front of me ingredients from a bag of Royal Canin Pro and Maximum Adult Lamb and Rice. The first three ingred. in Royal Canin are Chicken By Product Meal, Corn and brewers rice. First three in Max are Lamb, Chicken meal, ground WHOLE GRAIN sorgum. Hmm.....Max has no fillers, just veggies and vitamins. RC has veggies way down the list, vitamins and also lists rice hulls, which come after the corn gluten meal and beet pulp..

I'd say thats a no-brainer! 40# of Max is the same price as RC PRO, and you can get it close, you don't have to get it delivered for a big charge, buy a minumum of 16 bags, and maybe even drive a long way to get it. (Yes, I was speaking to people at the company to be a rep for Michigan....no thanks.)

Maximum is just like the same story of what SAM WHOLESALE DOES.....,.PURINA MAKES EXCEED FOR  SAMS  AT BENTONVILLE , ARKANSAS.

SAME CHEAP JUNK IN THAT BAG AS IN THE CHEAPEST BAG OF PURINA...

MAXIMUM IS MADE FOR  WALLY WORLD....AND THE CHEAPEST JUNK IN THT BAG IS WHAT YOU GET....IT IS FOR THE COST CUTTING OF THE WALMART MARKETING PROGRAM     ......AND YOU BELIEVE WHAT IT SAYS ON THE BAG....OLE ROY AND MAXIMUM ARE BOTH MADE THE SAME PLACE AND FOR THE SAME REASON....TO MAKE  YOU,,,,,, THINK YOUR GETTING THE SAME THING  FOR LESS,,,,,     as the better brands.

That is what  Walmarts motto is....with a smiley face to go with it.

Exceed/Maxxium= the same food.  One is Sams Club, the other is Walmart.  I have been been breeding since the 80's and using Exceed for over 12 years now.  For the $$ there is not better food!  I have used all the foods mentioned (Diamond, Nutro, Wellness, Solid Gold, Canidae, Calif Nat, Inova, etc)   My dogs do great in this food.  Stools are small with nice firmess, coats shines like clean glass.  Once a week I give raw chicken backs too.

The last time I got stuck with hungry dogs when a connecting flight from Germany to SF was cancelled I fed each one half a loaf of bread I keep in my suitcase when traveling with dogs rather than the junk they had at the air cargo in Cincinnati. Dogs were fine. No runs, no burps.

Those that are feeding Exceed are feeding  nothing but Purina dog chow.....MADE BY Nestles  and Sams doesnt have a thing to do with what is in the bag......

and it contains   Menadione   a chemical that your dog doesnt need in its body.....Nestles mades eXCEED AND YOU CAN DUMP THE BAG OF PURINA NEXT TO THE BAG OF EXCEED AND IF YOU WILL WATCH YOUR KIBBLE FOR THE NEXT 6 MONTHS  CAREFULLY  ,,THEY CHANGE...COLOR AND ALL KINDS OF STRANGE THINGS APPEAR IN BAGS OF EXCEED...

AND YOU BELIEVE WHAT YOU READ ON A BAG OF COMMERCIAL DOG FOOD FROM A GROCERY STORE...?  I too , used Exceed and so did our whole Schutzhund group till the report on Menadione came out...and the little red hearts appeared in BAGS OF EXCEED for three months and in North and East Texas...I still have the food and the coded label off their...

DO YOU THINK PURINA DOG FOOD CARES ABOUT YOUR GERMAN SHEPHERDS NEEDS.....????????  GRAINS AND CHEMICALS.....MAKE PROFIT FOR THEM

I have confidence in what Yellowrose says about this. She has done the research and knows what she is talking about.  Bob-O knows a great deal about the dog food industry and if he makes a recommendation about what is acceptable or not acceptable to those who want the best and safe nutrition for their GSDs, I listen carefully.
