4pack

Good post Christian. Sounds like a cool idea, to all sit down and watch that as a club and then talk about what each individual took from it.  Anything can be interpreted differently.

You know I was just thinking that sounded like a cool think to do with the club too.....

Get a real dog   When I said it made sense I was not being rude or ???? in any way.  It made sense enough for me to understand what you were saying. I see were I could mess up and like any other training timing is the key knowledge is everything and that is why I am here asking for help.

I thank you for taking the time and writing out your thoughts and opinions (must would have not). SO again Thank you .
I am glad to see I was not the only one who got lost in the videos. You did hit on a subject that I posted on _ Need opinions on what to look for in a trainer thread when you said "There is a difference in knowing how to do something and knowing how to teach someone how to do something. A big difference and often times one has nothing to do with the other".It was light a light bulb going off. It was something I did not think of and is so simple but easly over looked. One thing I will be looking closer at when I go to  different clubs next week. So THANK YOU again :)

Listen the reason i suggested Bernard Flink's dvd is because it showes you and teaches you how to put a proper foundation in your dog through proper play.Bernard is the only trainer who teaches you taht you do not need any so called experience decoy for foundation.you must learn yourself first how to play with your dog or puppy first. you must first learn by watching the vedio as many times as it takes for you to understand the concepts behind what he is teaching you.if you do not understand the basic concpts of foundation work for bite training some one else can screw up your dog and you would not know anything. Also do not worry about messing up your dog,ask all the big name trainers how many dog they fucked up to get to this point and some of them still fucking up dogs.how else would you learn if you do not mistakes. the most important thing is to learn the basic from the best of the best ,so once you understand may be you will make less mistakes.more dogs are fucked up at local clubs than anywhere else by so called experience decoys and trainers.also if any one can not learn by watching vedio of the best of the best then you are too dumb and give up working line dogs.have a nice one.

Held Thank you for your insight, you sound like you have been doing this for a while. I did looking in to the video as it was told to me a few times now to sit and watch it , learn and ask questions. So there is a lot to learn :)

4 pack - some people just need a little help :)

do yourself a favor and dont listen to the houpla that you have to wait for this and that and settling in.  make everyday of your life a training day from wake up to sleep... i have my pups at 6 weeks old doing things that most dogs at 6 months cant or wont do. just for the simple fact that they were never desensitized of our own natural enviorments..

the wrong thing to do is take a pup out of its den/pack mentality  of basic breeder whelping area, and into your home another den pack mental state until they have this shot that worming etc. and expect the pup at 16 weeks not to be shy surpressed or even timid...
get them out and about asap fear is never a factor..
play with them chase games and retrieve and runaway and promote mouthiness and things should settle into place.
reinforce there good behavior with plenty of praise whether its sitting on there own laying down or walking to you. reinforce the commands that they are following through on there own so that they here these words and get paid for them from the get go...

Bernhard method is for dogs with hi drive in pray otherwise it will not work .The best thing for begginer is to find out about the dog first and then look for a trainer who fallow trainning throu drive , unfortunatly there are a lot of trainers who do train old fashoned way and do not want to change . I gess you have to be very lucky to be near a very good club . i am not.. I was at someone very famous seminar years ago who said that it is easy to train sombody else dog then your own .that stoped me from going to seminars to this date
