Thanks everyone! I sure hope Americans will consider working a Beauceron when picking a breed.  I'm doing my best to breed working dogs.  As I mentioned the breed is rare here and most are bred for show so those looking for a puppy can more easily get a showline puppy especially as many people want a puppy "now" and find it hard to wait.  Then if they try to work it, they are more than likely to be disappointed, which is not good for the breed.   I put Leo on the show circuit because he enjoyed it and would be a good ambassador.  I had seen too many shy dogs being shown over the years and this includes many breeds.

There isn't just one! LOL  Too funny.  French Ring would count too I'd hope as it takes a "somewhat" talented working dog as well! ;o)  I know there are other Schutzhund titled Beaucerons around.  I remember a German guy that contacted me years ago in Texas that had a SchHI.  I think Silkie (Ivan's ex) titled hers as well.  Just to mention a couple that we didn't breed.  I've sold several that went on to be Police K9s and more for Search&Rescue and some for security too. 

It's a pity that Western Europe has banned the ear cropping as now it complicates things.  Before if we happened to get a  young dog returned to us that was "too much" for the home, we had the option of taking him to France for french ring.  Now it's forbidden if the dog has cropped ears for the Europeans to show or trial them.

I have always liked this breed but do not believe in the ear cropping.  One can show them with natural ears, I was recently told.  Is this true?

Yes, you can show them either way (cropped or natural).  "Jazz" is a young male that is being shown with natural ears and has gotten a 3 pt major at 11 months so the floppy ears haven't held him back.  I prefer cropped,  however it's now not allowed in Western Europe including France.   To see Jazz:  www.pawsnclaws.us/djasper_ped.htm

I saw your name and had to register so I could post on here.  I know it's a GSD board.  I have a GSD.  But I just wanted to tell you I saw a SchH Malinois from your breeding that was freakin' awesome!  I can't remember his name, but I believe he is a Dexter son owned by a big, quiet guy who trains in Fontana. 

The dog took the helper down on his face during the drive.  He's probably going to hurt someone or himself on the courage test someday. 

Just thought I'd mention it, since it seems your breedings don't get the hype that the other Mal breeders seek out.

Thanks that would be Drogo owned by Cecil Terry.  He's done a great job with Drogo.  It's funny as the dog forced him to join a schutzhund club.  His intent was not to get back into the sport, but have a good malinois - companion.  Well Drogo needed a job and got Cecil back into the sport.  I made a page for Drogo and Cecil:  www.pawsnclaws.us/bdrago_ped.htm  Drogo is about 75-80lbs, but looks small next to Cecil!  Drogo's brother "Blitz" is owned by a 16 year old boy that trains in French Ring.  He got the pup when he was 14 years old and just this month he got his Brevet and 1st place at a local trial with a 98.9 pts.  I'm proud of them.  I made a page for them too: www.pawsnclaws.us/blitz_ped.htm  It's funny as Blitz's owner is a big, calm guy too. I think that litter clicks best with someone big and calm.  I have their brother back (owner return) "Diesel" who is about 80lbs and a strong dog with high drives.  I've already gone to the chiropractor once after he practically shook me to the ground when I rewarded him with a tug during obedience...the doctor said it was a turned rib :(  felt like a knife stabbing me unde my shoulder blade.  I guess it's a sign that I'm getting old...or maybe I should breed them smaller! LOL  Now I'm looking for a working home for Diesel as he's such a brute...nice with the handler, but very strong!

Beauceron sheep herding, tending style.

This female was an import from a cattle farm in France.  She's the second Beauceron to be titled by her owner, with the German HGH title.     This was at an AKC herding trial, C course..
