"i really think we all should try to look for the good intent of others instead of a possible insult. jmho."
i agree in essence. it's great when anyone shows any degree of kindness, and expecting perfection or deep insight is simply asking too much of people. we should be happy when good things happens, but when you continuously experience these 'one time' gestures they begin to ring hollow. not because of ingratitude but because often the intent is either superficial, a self-serving ego boost, or just plain lacking in true insight and understanding of the other person's situation (with no desire to acquire any).
i just think it's not that hard to require a bit more of ourselves. and if we don't ever question ourselves or look at things from a different pov we will never see the shallowness of some of our gestures, or how some of our 'good/best intentions' actually ends up marginalizing instead of showing care and compassion. so if no one points out the faulty conclusions or assumptions from time to time, and instead these misunderstandings are left unspoken, nothing will ever really improve. then stories like these become a novel "inspirational story" that has no real impact beyond it's initial emotional hit. this "hit' might be enough for most and maybe we all should just be grateful that something good happened to this poor boy but i just wanted to put it out there that we are able to do better.

That story shows just how much many of us lack in undertanding the true meaning of humility and kindness towards others
