I vote 'yes' for moderation, having been driven away from this board in the past by the sort of threads Steve is referring to.
I was also on a work related board, where the same sort of crap was happening. It took awhile, but the moderators cleaned it up, and it is now the largest message board of its kind on the web! And yes, we STILL have fun!
Moderation does not mean all the fun, off-topic posts will have to go. It just means the mean, nasty stuff will be removed.
How many talented, experienced people do YOU think have been driven away by the childish antics on this board? I'm sure it's a lot more than you could ever imagine, and the quality of the board has suffered BIG TIME as a result.

Bok,
You don't know what your talking about in regards to IP addresss and trolls.
Yeah doggie I would imagine Oli is having some difficulty there.
Strong language?..................................... puleezzz.
If you want moderation and someone to hold your hand go to AOL.
Sorry Bok, but this has gone around the message board time and time again.
Hang in there.
Moons.

I think Oli needs an Administrator for the site...Not a moderator...Administrators watch for posters that are cyberstalkers and those that join only to set a Fire and then cause harm to the reputation of the site..
Yes we need something for that purpose.

I vote 'yes'. I was driven away from this board when I first came here due to all the name-calling and childish stuff that was going on. I can't say I was a great loss to the community, but I know that many very experienced breeders, with tons of good stuff to share are too busy looking after their dog to come here and read crap. They'll take one look, and never come back.
Belive, me, I've been around the web long enough to know. I saw this happen on a work-related site. Once we got rid of all the trolls, and all the mean, nasty stuff, membership soared. It is now the largest board of its kind on the web.
So, think about it seriously. It doesn't mean all the fun posts and off topic stuff has to go, but I would certainly be very glad to see the end of all the backstabbing and bickering. This webside DOES have a TOS (Terms of Service) that is supposed to control this sort of thing, but due to the lack of moderation, it is not being enforce.
Have a read...see if you could live with this. It's pretty simple! http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/terms_of_service.html

Leave Oli alone and stop feeding trolls or reacting to those who want to impose their OT agenda by NOT RESPONDING.
If you don't respond that is the end of it and the thread can keep going. If you respond to the inflammatory OT interruption, you can count on the thread going down and turning off lots of really nice people with good manners.
