I'm sorry I don't have any pix of John as we washed and bandaged his hands and arms a few times when handlers kinda messed up holding onto their dogs.
Such is the domain of the helper, beginner or seasoned pro. Dues paid forward... Did anybody mention the fact that the helpers' dogs get worked last... IF EVER?

Shelley, do you ever be quiet?
Not much, especially when there's a thick sheet of ice on the ground here on the hill and the doors to my van won't open till I thaw them out with my hair drier. :-(
Nice videos Andres! We video and take pix a lot here to go over in the house after training. Some are pretty funny but we laugh together at ourselves and each other. As I look at some of the ones from this year I am very proud of how far some of our members and their dogs have come, like a proud Oma, LOL
Bob McKown- Thanks for the compliment. Makes an old woman feel good to know she can still get away with wearing shorts on the training field. LOL Personally, I think Steve Miller looks incredible at 60+. That man can still move like a gazelle working dogs all day long in the heat. He must be washing all those vitimens down with formaldehyde.
I hope this thread gave some of you guys a good giggle, especially the helpers who give their all to the rest of us for the love of the sport. Hats off to you! I had fun creating the image with the helper in the visiting dog's cross-hairs, armed only with a bite pillow on a string. A couple of minutes later that dog's status was upgraded from "intermediate" to banger. BTW: The guy in the first photo is UScA Teaching Helper Gary Park, catching my old dog Onyx on the back half in the '95 North American Championship (Albequerque, NM) Gary created the UScA Helper Program about 10 yrs. ago. He has probably turned out more excellent helpers than anybody else I know, and he's still ragging at 'em till they do it right in his 60's.
Somewhere out in California, probably in Gerry Carle's front room, there is a video from the 70's & 80's called "The Boot Camp Tape." Its one of the funniest videos in existance, with one segment of Laddie Nethercutt choreographing a group of (eventually top) helpers, sleeves and reed sticks, doing what appears to be a two-step in something very much resembling a line dance. I wish I could get my hands on it! Definitely Hall of Fame!

Did Kris Kristofferson abandon his career as a singer/actor and became a helper?
