Travel time

Sure there is plenty of free play time.  He is a fetching freak, or frisbee, or anything else that moves.  I'm single and he stays in the house with me  when I am home and loves to stretch out a get a belly rub in the evenings while I'll watch some TV, or go to the park, or a ride in the truck, or swim at the lake (he loves to swim).  I do lots of fun stuff with him, my friend just assumes too much.

I think travel was mostly suggesting that her friend believes that rules and "fun" are mutually exclusive concepts.  Hey.. maybe that's an angle. . is your friend into any sports at all?  Something they thing is really fun but rule based?  Maybe you could draw an analogy for them....

Ohhhhh, yes, it's amazing what a horrible person I am to the general public because when I'm out with my dogs we are working, and I don't let them stick their nose up other dog's butts.  "Oh, I don't want to take him to training, it'll break his spirit" Give me a break...

And english bulldogs can absolutely be trained, you just have to more stubborn than they are. I will own one someday for AKC obedience, just for the sheer fun of seeing people's faces when I get it working just as well as their goldens and borders. - You'd be surprised the drive on some of those bulldoggies!

I agree 100% that BD's can be trained.
Mr.Beefy is testament to this (adam sandlers dog? he plays in many of his movies).

I think the trick with them is finding out what motivates them, they are very sweet lumps indeed!

Thanks for the support guys, sounds like you have ran into similar situations.  We got some snow yesterday in Oklahoma so Charlie got to romp and play in the snow last night although I thought the 23 degree temp and 30-40mph wind gusts were a touch on the cold side  Brrrrrr.  Oh Xephyr, I am a guy.

Travel time,

Where are you located in Oklahoma?  I am also a fellow Okie!  I missed the snow, Monday I left and came to Austin TX where the high was 76 yesterday!  But......they did get snow last night and that rarely happens here.  It was only enough to dust the roof tops though and it will be gone in another hour.
