I might have been the one who suggested Tylan powder (Tylosin powder), Nichole. I'm glad it worked for your dog. It's a mild antibiotic useful for an overgrowth of normal bacteria that causes diarrhea.

Im trying to wait until i get the tests back to decide what to do. Like i said the vet said something about a Hypoallergenic diet i really dont want to do that its crazy expensive so i want to try and avoid that if i can. If the tests come back neg. what do you think i should do? Take the HA diet or get the Tylan powder and keep him on EVO to see what happends. If i did go the Tylan route would i also have to get Prozyme or would the Tylan just take care of it all?

I am sorry about your Dog, But i did tell you it may help your Dog to do onto a Hypo allegnic Food right from the very start of your last posting, having gone through it myself with one of my Dogs and still he is living a happy heathly life on the Hypo allergnic Kibble, and has had it now for over 12 months
I am not being funny when i write this, but it seems you did not take any notice
But all you did was to Call me when i tried to help
It seemed Logical that if he was not right on a Meat Based Diet and you fed him Orijen 42 % meat Protein
Then try him for a week or two on a NON meat Protein
You could not have made him worse. Take notice of your Vet then and Buy a Bag of Hypo Allegenic Kibble
But i am sure it will help your Dog but its up to you
Not so Happy, Steve

Just got the results back from his full blood panel. He is one healthy dog a couple of things the vet pointed out was his phos. levels were a tad high but thats because he is growing and that he has a digestive upset (duh) which we already knew but other than that everything is functioning good from what the vet told me. Still awaiting the EPI/SIBO.
Now something steve will like to hear lol. If the EPI/SIBO also comes back neg. I WILL be switching to a HA diet. Its just wierd that a DOG is going to have a MEAT PROTIEN ALLERGY i have never heard of that before and why do dogs, in particular my dog, become to have this meat allergy? My choices for the HA diet is Purina, Science Diet, Royal Canin. Which do you think is the better one steve since you have some expierence in this field or are the all pretty much the same?

Yes, i thought the same as you do regards a meat allergy. and i do not mind saying that i told my vet they must be mistaken as how could a Dog be allergic to meat, He too did not hold back in telling me
Why do humans have an allergy against certain foods,
There is nothing certain in this life he said except one thing, and that is all things die
So, he said accept the fact that the Dog is allergic to meat or it will suffer badly in the end
Those red patches that you saw with your own eyes on the inside wall of his intestines, will turn to ulcers. then he will be in a lot more trouble, that convinced me
and since i have fed him on Royal Canin Hypo Allergnic DR21 he has never had a loose stool or showed and other problems, He is a happy energtic Dog who is doing well in his ScHh training
YOu cannot lose nothing by giving it a try. it will certainly not make the Pup worse but i guess it can solve its problems, and of course make you a happier persion knowing the Pup will be okay

I use the Purina HA, but have also heard good things about the Royal Canin and Hills. The reason I prefer the Purina is because it is lower in fat than the Royal Canin, and having IBD it suits my boy better. I do hope the TLI/SIBO results will be normal, and if so, I would give any of the Hydrolysed foods a try. You have nothing to lose. Also if it comes back normal TLI but indicates SIBO I would still try one of them.
According to the Internal Medicine Vet we were referred to, it is not really a Meat allergy as such. It is an immune response (allergic response) to something in the diet, usually protein, and it wouldnt matter whether it was beef, chicken , fish, egg or whatever. That is why the hydrolysed protein is used--The protein is broken down into smaller molecules and skips past the immune system. So many shepherds with dodgy immune systems I fear!!!!!!!

After feeding the Pup on the Hypo Food for about Five months, i only had Orijen which was fed to the Other Dog,
so i bought a small bag of Kibble with 24% Meat Protein, and i fed Half to the Pup with Half Hypo Kibble
Within a few days his stools started to go soft, It was just an experiment to see if he would grow out of this allergy
i could see the change and i stopped the meat Kibble right away
In two days his Stools went the right way again, so i do not bother now, he is happy and looks well, and has unlimited energy, so i leave well alone
I have just a few moments ago ordered another bag fronm the Vet
