"you people put him in the Job" - steve1

this is a hotly debate point, many many people do not believe he was fairly elected.  other than this point i completely agree

the guy had no right to pet the dog without permission, so it was the reporter's fault so no justifiable lawsuit imo.  i wonder how many people would be ok if some stranger came out of the blue and moved his/her hand toward their face? that gesture is hard to interpret as non-threatening, sure some dogs can do it but then these dogs general have no real sense of self-preservation.

You can say that for any president or prime minister of any country, including Obama

But that is only hearsay in the minds of those who do not want that person in the Job

Its proof that counts and no one provides it at any time

So he has been the President and deserves the respect that goes with it

and that stupid man should not ever approach a Dog in the way he did

So as for a lawsuit he would have no chance and what did he get for his trouble a little nick on the finger nothing to even think about

steve - yes we have a major problem with our election system and when races are very close like the 2 "w"was involved in (but particularly the first one) the flaws and weaknesses become glaring, but clearly this is not the biggest issue in america at the moment:)

the thing about a democracy is respect needs to be part of every dialog but it also must be continuously earned particularly by those who are in decision making positions.  when you stand up and say as pres. that you will not listen to a significant group of individuals it does not garner respect.  so far obama has been given general respect but if he ignores the interests of the people who did not vote for him he will experience just what bush expereinces - respect begets respect i.e. leaders must show respect to get respect.  the pres works for the people and we often forget this and instead treat it as a king-like position - it is not.  he is paid with money gotten from the people, all the people, no matter if or who an individual voted for and as an 'employee" of the american people he is subject to scrutiny and evaluation by the people.  there's a native american 'saying' that says a leader must have 'skin' 7 thumbs thick, this mean a person who is elected must be able to handle criticism regardless of how harsh and still do the job s/he was hired to do.

wussup - i wonder how many of the ss barney's nipped   my guess is they have learned now that he's older he likes his privacy so leave him in peace.

This Dog  Barney of  Mr Bush biting a fellow

What about H.M the Queens Dogs Corgis, they are for ever biting, known to bite staff and so forth

I bet they do not go for a lawsuit

anyway the Lawsuit advantage is not the same in the UK as over there in the USA they do not bother with such trivel things as a Dog nip

The Owner will be given a caution to keep the dog under control

But in this case it was not the Dogs Fault

My Older Dog is perfect around people and strangers,  but he does not like them stroking him or touching him etc,

Just to clear things up a little America is not a democracy it is a republic.  Read up.  As for the rest of you Obama won and Bush is out.  Quit beating the dead horse or lame duck as he is called.

i believe our government is actually a blend - a democratic republic; and i believe our social structure is democratic or at least aspires to be  other labels i've heard used for our system of government is constitional democracy, constitional republic ...
