4 Pack you wrong, I seen worst :) lol. But some people are hung up on color, I believe customer should be treated with respect no matter how stupid he is J . I would not deal with a breeder that would bully me around. I don't really care how well known he is, I demand a respect as much as I am willing to give the respect back, if someone want to go the other way than be my guest.  (If a breeder would refuse a pic of my dog I would worry a lot, is it something wrong with his structure? Environment that he is now? Or maybe the breeder has more than one and didn’t decide who is going where?)   But after all that breeders are weird :) lol they got a bug in their head :) so try to understand that many times they have to deal with one be owners, and they get tick off as well. How do you expect to be treated with respect if you fixate on a color when buying a working dog? I would say you should be fixated on its working ability.

snajper.thank you!!

this girl likes black and tans.

she is PAYING for a dog

she should be able to get the color she wants.

not what the breeder wants to ship her site unseen.

who in there right mind would buy ANYTHING like that?

what is so wrong with getting the color she thinks is beautiful?

some people will only buy sables,bi-colors, blacks.

wow did this blow out of proportion as usual!!!!!

Harley the problem is that a lot of people on this board forgot how it is to buy their first dog, or the only dog, some of people on this board have multiply dogs, they been in the dog word for a while, it is different kind of emotions involved. I keep never more than 2 dogs, and I never sale them my house is always their first and last home, so every time the times comes for a new dog I am looking for a perfection and I am more scared then ever before, no matter how many times I go through it always first time for me.

BTW I am in CT and there is quite few good breeders in the area.

pm  me with the good breeders in your area.

and i am like you. i would NEVER sell or get rid of one of my dogs.

they are here until they die!

seems most (not everyone,  of these people have too many dogs who sit in kennels and maybe get worked a few times (if that a week)

my dogs are a part of my family.and i have showlines longcoats and a bl/tan czech dog. next pup i am looking for will be a solid black.

Mystere

Harley,

Fortunately for you there are a LOT more solid blacks around the past six years than before.  You hardly ever saw them in the German lines, then boom, it seems that they are everywhere suddenly.

As Sue mentioned, the Witmers had been out of town for the past few weeks.

My dogs are also my "kids" , live in the house, are spoiled rotten and would not be going anywhere without me!!   My first gsd  (when I was 8 or 9) was a black and tan and that was my preference, until I got a sable puppy.  Now, I live the sables and all things being equal, I'd prefer sable.  But, tmeperament and working ability comes first, so I'd take a puppy that was solid black (my least favorite, because I do not trust myself to name it), based on temperament and working ability.  But, that 's  just me.

As long as the gsd is not BUTT UGLY, I don't care so much about the color.  If I wanted an ugly dog, I'd get a Neapolitan Mastiff (who is beautiful, no doubt, to somebody.).

I happen to prefer blk/tan too. You left allot of stuff out and  concentraiting on color here. Sure nobody wants to buy site unseen but a phone call will tell you allot more thanyour going to get in an email about the pups. Maybe after actual interest in the pups and not just color the breeder will feel better about sending pics. If someone contacted me about a dog adn was only focused on what it looked like, I'd probably not take them seriously either. As Mystere pointed out at 8 weeks old your not going to get that at 1 year, 2 years, or 4. Colors change and shouldn't be someones first basis for purchase.

"HEY DON'T HAVE TIME TO TAKE PHOTO'S INSTEAD TO CALL THEM. WHY SHOULD SHE WASTE HER TIME TALKING ABOUT A PUP (WHEN SHE EXPLAINED ALL ABOUT OWNING DOGS FOR 20 YEARS,WORKING LINES, ALL WORKED IN PROTECTION) WHEN IF SHE SAW THE PHOTO'S OF WHAT IS AVAILABLE SHE MIGHT NOT EVEN LIKE WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE"

Maybe the breeder feels like not "wasting" her time taking pics and sending them to people who are only "windowshopping" buy calling and talking to her you are showing her you are serious enough to go out of your way and maybe she will go out of hers. I bet she could care less about selling your friend a pup anyway if her dogs are generally spoken for before they are old enough to leave. Sometimes I swear folks think they are the only busy people on the planet.

Sorry the opening post rubbed me the wrong way, it sounded stupid and downright childish and I'm still not sure if it should be taken seriously.

breeders have every right to not sell someone a puppy, or to choose which puppy is best for that particular situation.  these breeders have been doing this a very long time.  I would trust their judgement in which pup would be better for my situation, than just my choice from a picture. Not everyone has time to go take pics of a high drive litter.  they are handfulls and generally require 3 or 4 people involved to get nice pictures.  maybe you should have a little patience or possibly just go see the puppies yourself instead of waiting on pictures.

my friend was just amazed that they could not snap a photo or 2 when they were 3/4 weeks old, not 8 weeks old running all over the place..

possibly just go see the puppies yourself instead of waiting on pictures

she will find a breeder who will be close by so she can see them

or she will find a breeder who will take photo's of the pups

like MOST ALL OF THE BREEDERS who have websites selling litters.

the big breeders mittelwest,eurosport,fleischerheim,whilendorf...etc

i hate to sound like i have an attitude but people are making this seem like it is wrong to want to see a photo of a pup that you are going to spend thousands of dollars on and have hopefully for 10-13 years!!!

No it's not wrong, just quit complaining and go to one of the many other breeders willing to showcase their pups.
