Thanks for the advice. Bella is my first female pup, so other than what I have read (or been told by friends) I have no experience of my own as to how soon she could come into heat for the first time. Could be another common condition as Silbersee suggests. I haven't noticed any discharge, but the younger male has been sticking his nose under her tail, so he must have noticed something. In any event, I will keep an eye on things. Usually they spend 2-3 hours outsde together in the afternoons, but never without supervision--then the older male goes home. Would drive me crazy having the 3 of them underfoot all day, especially with the relationship becoming tense between the 2 males.

Out of curiousity, is it true that having the males around will make a female come into heat sooner? That's what someone suggested to me yesterday. Any truth or just a myth?

It is a myth. Mine almost never come into season before their first birthday and I always have at least one male around.
