We have a Rottie that visits our hospice unit once a week; it's so wonderful to see how much good that short visit does for our patients, their families, & the staff, too. It's very worthwhile work, & it takes a special dog & handler. Sounds like you two have what it takes! I hope you continue your training & become a Therapy team. I taught Kali to speak by 'barking' myself, & clapping my hands, being silly, acting excited, & saying 'speak', all at the same time, & giving a treat when she started to vocalize, it also worked for teaching 'quiet'....after she would 'speak', I'd say 'quiet', and give the treat when she was. Those 2 were the easiest to teach, she picked it up very quickly, altho' I'm sure I looked like an idiot! jh

Sounds like Angus is a good Ambasador for our breed.  Way to go!

another update: we were in the san dimas western days parade and our doggie drill team came in 1st place!!! hurray for us. this coming saturday we're going to fontana to participate at a dog park. there will also be K9s showing their protection and drug sniffing skills. it ought to be an interesting contrast between angus and the police dogs!

btw, in our drill team, only one dog barked once at some horses and not one barked at the CAMEL! another btw, if you ever have the opportunity to eat camel - don't. very acrid/bitter and just plain yuck. no offense intended for the kiwis out there, but it reminds me of the sausage i had in new zealand. love your country, hate the sausage. i'll just eat lamb....
