From The Kennel Club Calendar and Stud Book (U.K.), Volume III, 1876:
4944. Violet.—Mr. E. Ross's, 7, Welbeck-street, Nottingham; breeder, Mr. Radford; whelped 1873.
Pedigree: By Terry's Risk (No. 583, Vol. I.) out of Radford's Venom.
Chief Performance: Nottingham, 1st prize.

This is a dog pedigree, used by breeders and breed enthusiasts to see the ancestry and line-breeding of that individual dog. The pedigree page also contains links to the dogs siblings and progeny (if any exist). For dog owners with purebred dogs this is an excellent resource to study their dog's lineage.
