I also agree with Xeph. The "popularity" objection is a boat that sailed.... years ago.
This is a huge accomplishment that has nothing to do with some internet troll's personal judgment. The only judge that matter has had his say.
I am still looking for the repeat TV showing times, myself. I missed it in real time.

Goa to the Westminister website. The videos are available online!
And I can't believe I thought SHE was a male! Now I'm SERIOUSLY impressed! That's the most masculine looking American female I've ever seen!
Used to be the American line males could easily pass for bitches because of their narrow heads and light bone structure! I've made that mistake a few times because I forgot to look closely enough for male genitals, which are pretty easy to see when the dog's in a show stack. This time her excellent bone made me think she was a male. My bad...

I think the win is strategic.
Its like the strategic nature of the catholic church handing out sainthoods, they do their market research first and choose a winner based on where they will get the most financial return.
I wonder if there is even a scheduled breed roster for winners to keep the kennel clubs happy.

Terriers win more than any other group, so, no
It was great to see Rumor out of retirement. It was clear she missed it. That girl was on and it felt so good seeing her so happy (not that she doesn't enjoy her home life).

Max930, do you think you are making some sort of profound observation instead of sounding like a boring jerk?
Vk4, really? Lol, your obsession with the church is leaking drive.

Therefore its mathematically expected terriers would win more often, they have more breeds.
I don't believe there is a written roster but I do believe pressure comes from kennel/breed clubs based on weight of personality, who lands on what committee, corruption, market trends......the least consideration comes down to the best dog which is totally and utterly subjective.

Stop the guessing. Why attack the integrity of judges and the preferences of the participants? You don't like the venue or the dogs? Don't watch. Don't like AKC or Americans "ruining" breeds, don't buy those dogs. There aren't any shortages to worry about.
Learn about the judges here:

Xeph, you neglect that there are multiple breeds of terriers, prolly more terriers variations than any other breed has variations.
Here, have some stats
