Hired Dog, But it's so easy. ANYONE can do it so its MEANINGLESS as a breed test, and yet they fail. How is it meaningless if there is a failure rate?
Oh your on your podium all the time. I don't even think you know it anymore. Real is all that matters, sport is for anyone with anydog.....You pound it long and hard to try and prove your dogs superiority. Which fails every time.
And. this. is. the. really. funny. part. Genetically Civil? Bites everything without being trained to. That isn't civil, it is an indiscriminate biter, which is a nerve issue. Your dog has a purpose for crowd control or PD work, but it isn't a standard for any breed to bite everyone.
You've lived on your podium so long that you have no idea what the real world is like.
I've had to "fix" your idea of a real dog far too many times. A civil dog is one who stands up for himself and will fight a threat at any time and without help or encouragement or equipment. My wife and I have both had those kinds of dogs. But he sure doesn't go bite someone who walks up to him. The dog who does that does it out of FEAR. I have planty of scars from working the real dogs. I've had plenty of dogs that I have to teach to not nail the koermeister when he checks their teeth or testicles. But they wouldn't think of nailing him when he just walks up! The dog who you throw the sleeve down and come at him and he lights up and comes harder at you. These are the true civil dogs. You, because you don't train, have the mistaken idea that because we teach them to stay on the equipment, they are not real. Again hiding behind your podium.
I've done the PD work, trained the personal protection, the food refusal and taught dogs how to track and fight what they find at the end of the track. You've just pounded your podium about how your, indiscriminate biters, are what a real dog should be.
Yep, your an almighty something alright......

I assure you, i have trained more dogs then you have touched, now go play and let the real trainers handle the hard stuff, have a great night and dont bother with more assumptions, they are the mother of all f....ups.

I gracefully disagree that a pup at 8 weeks old cannot be evalutated for use in the beginning of imprinting for a venue of training for sport , or holding that pup back for further evaluation at 3 months , 4 m onths , 6 months and by that time , hell hath no fury like a strong, hard , working gsd...I do know how to test a pup from the first few days that pup enters the world with the littermates all being in my care from minute it is born...I am not gonna go into further arguing about it..but when my 5 week old west german /chezch / Belgium/bloodlines I BRED, has a full mouth on a mop and his whole demeanor is for the prey and food and fight , I am sorry , but I have birthed many a pup , and have had many litters, and I have placed many a pup with police depts, and personal protection people, and yes , many a home pet that went for many reasons on to be service dogs or personal protection dogs. I have won no National championships, nor have I put titles on but two of my gsd, as I had no intention or need to do so.. my GOAL WAS met and I will not get into a royal battle of words on here about it. I devised my imprinting program from the first hour the pup is born and I took many ideas from other breeders of working lines as to what to imprint and what to do to determine the pups quality.
4 yrs in a Schutzhund club , and tons of years under mentors , of some very top trainers , and tons of hours spent , training with those mentors, and watching pups develop , I can pick a fews of them pretty well on the spot. Not everyone has same degree of natural reading of dogs. I cannot speak for anyone elses abilities but I know mine.. I also know who I was trained under and not putting titles on a dog is not the end all of the breed. I agree, I trained , with the same people who had national titles and bought my dogs from the top breeders , so I disagree , boldly , that a pup can be picked very early in the game / and I know many breeders and handlers that can do the same.
By the way, you can put a title on a dog from the pound , if you are good enough trainer..!!!!!! Doesn't mean I would use it for apprehension of a criminal or a drug dealer..or a thief running from me..
now carry on with the agenda...no royalities paid here for any titles. In my next life I will title a few dogs. or have Dave Kroyer do it for me. Money is no object..I bought a money tree.

Jan, I guess some breeders just have a better sense about how to pick their puppies .
VK, please don't discourage the boys from their I'm-a-better-trainer-than-you-buddy back and forth. I'm rather enjoying it and for the first time in a few days they have not dumped on my breed worthiness thread and showlines in general. Ahhh... It's been a breath of fresh air; please let me enjoy it while I can for it will soon be back to business as usual. Gotta love dog people.

Four whole years and two whole titles! Completely ignore the realities of puppy neurological development. Yeah 'nuff said.
This is why everybody has to keep importing blood lines from Europe. We kill off the working ability in a very few generations by taking these shortcuts.

royalities; ''pay it forward''. watch the movie by the same name with Kevin Spacey. you treat the breeders of yesteryear properly by making their breed better. Educate the newbies. Breed better dogs. Exhibit them to the public. Encourage and support the service dogs. treat each other nice.

Back to our regular programming, you were asking about the breed worthlessness of show dogs?
by Blitzen on 09 July 2014 - 11:07
I wasn't asking YOU, vk, just people who actually know and like showlines. Thanks anyway. Have a good day.
