susie, there must be some starting point to begin with.
if price is too high, buyer just will skip to a next offer, without bothering and wasting time of both parties.
due to my business i often see such sale tactics here in Canada and truly hate it.
seems like some people can't be forward open and honest.

The starting point should always be
Name
Sex
Age
Registry
Health
Titles

Anything else: who cares...
Question and answer..
In case the seller has no clue he or she will have to answer a lot of questions.

I'd like to see given facts.

Perhaps in the future we can make it a form that is filled in but for now it will just be a tutorial and a reminder.

We have discussed many times over the years the how and why those who advertise they do not include certain information and we have discussed all the different reasons they do or don't.

Nothing over the years has changed with those who advertise.  A high percentage of those who do advertise here DO NOT read the forums so adding another tutorial to clutter up the board will be of little use especially if it will not be enforced.

If there is a dog/puppy you like advertised call and then ask all the questions you want information about, if they don't answer or do not meet your needs say thank you and hang up.  If the price is most important to start with call ask it then if you like the price continue, if not say thank you hang up.

Advertisers will figure it out someday, if they want to be called for nothing but the information that should be in the AD, then put the information in the Ads that people want.

Keep making posts about and discussing the topic those that do read the forums may change and learn that they sell more dogs/puppies.

For the members that want a tutorial, what are you going to say when even here on the forum it can't be agreed on what needs to be in an Advertisement. We cannot know what is influencing the seller to word the Ad they way they do, as some have said about entering the price, paying taxes could be a reason they don't etc.

If you really like the animal advertised call don't let the lack of information stop you, if you do then you don't really like that animal enough to buy it.

I feel that if the PDB tries to enforce what an Ad should say we will lose a lot of advertisers. Can't see Oli wanting to do that.

 

 

I don't think the Admins need to enforce the info that goes into an ad...I just think you let them know what Buyers want/need to know...The better the info the more people will respond to it...I mean if the Seller want to sell a puppy/dog then they need to include what people want/need to know...
As far as some people say "NO Tire Kickers"...I think the more responses to an ad the better the ad was...If you don't include the wanted/needed info then you either don't get responses or people will be calling you with the same questions all the time...
A Tutorial is a good start...but I think the goal should be some sorta guide to help Sellers include in info that's needed...

I can see both sides of the argument for whether or not to include the price up front - but one big general advantage to including price, surely, is that when a figure IS included, readers gradually get to know what is a reasonable current price for puppies, or for the various 'levels' of dogs available ( ancestry or training quals. etc), and who is asking what might be seen as unreasonably high, or inexplicably low, sums ? Instead of that being a big self-perpetuating mystery ! It would save some of the questions on here about "How much should I pay ?".

If you need to ask the simplest of questions like mother , father age sex ECT you are probably better off walking away .my experience is down the road these people will be very hard to deal will .and by this stage your probably to far invested to walk away

FB and messenger it is easier to make contact and build a relationship with clients iv just did this with a person in America now we have a great relationship .

Sunsilver mentioned about taking a good picture, I came across this one today and just had to share it. They certainly should have had the boy in the back wear a different colored coat.  At first glance it looks like the dog has on earmuffs, or 2 large goiters. or a hoodie or cape. It also looks like the dog is wearing blue pants.  Anyway, just thought that I would share.

That's even funnier than the one I mentioned! Looks like he's sitting on the dog!

At least the red hoodie helped in the case of the one I have in my files, and the handler obviously knows how a GSD should be stacked. Not a bad looking pup, actually:
