I guess time will tell whether or not he is punished for letting his dog die in a hot car.

by hntrjmpr434 on 20 July 2015 - 12:07

Yes of course, considering this happened only a few days ago.

by joanro on 20 July 2015 - 13:07

Huntjmpr, you agree with Lanhua? He doesn't believe the guy should be prosecuted.

These cops get away with negligence resulting in their k9 partners' death over and over again.
In SC there was a rock on display at Clemson University that came from death valley. The rock has some sort of symbolic meaning for the football team. Some one vandalized the rock last year by breaking off a piece for a keepsake. The person who did this misdeed to that ROCK has been indicted and the trial starts this week. This rock breaker ( not the same as ball breaker) is facing up to TWENTY years in prison for breaking a fkg ROCK, not an exotic Moon rock, but a common ordinary Death Valley rock. But cops get away with allowing their k9 partners to fry in their car because they were too preoccupied with whatever excuse. Talk about a perverted society........where are the morals, values...a ROCK is worth prosecuting a vandalizer, but PSDs' lives are lost every year through negligence and no one is held accountable, so there is no incentive to prevent it from happening time and time again.

Blitzen says, 'Lanhua, in the US we take dogs dying in hot police cars seriously and hold the offending officer responsible.'

Actually, they are not held accountable, that's why it keeps happening. Accountability tends to have a deterrent affect.

by hntrjmpr434 on 20 July 2015 - 14:07

Joan, did you even read my post? I specifically stated I think he should be prosecuted.

by Blitzen on 20 July 2015 - 14:07

correction..........and SHOULD hold the offending officer responsible.

Lanhua says, 'Sure it's Crazy to leave your dog or cat in a car , in warm and hot weather ...

This PO  ,has done alot of good in the past ,   , " Should we forget his good deads in the past " ?

So for him to loose his job ,, is crazy  ,,, " What about his wife and kids  "  ,,

Maybe he has PTSD , Stress from the wife ,, stress from the kids ,, stress paying his morgage and bills  ,

Sure he make a very big mistake for cooking his dog  ,,

What about the healthy dogs getting put down evey minute ? '

That sounds to me like he is excusing the negligence.

by hexe on 20 July 2015 - 20:07

I didn't wish anything on the officer responsible for the death of this K9 beyond prosecution and removal from his position as a police officer, and I don't believe either is excessively harsh given the circumstances.

by hntrjmpr434 on 20 July 2015 - 21:07

I concur, hexe.
Joan, I was agreeing to the post from Lanhua that I responded under.

@ Joanro
That sounds to me like he is excusing the negligence.

•Of the 1,000 shelters that replied to the National Council's survey, 4.3 million animals were handled.
•In 1997, roughly 64 percent of the total number of animals that entered shelters were euthanized -- approximately 2.7 million animals in just these 1,000 shelters. These animals may have been euthanized due to overcrowding, but may also have been sick, aggressive, injured or suffering from something else.

Animal shelters kill 3-4 million animals every year, and some of them do it with gas chambers.

That’s right: gas chambers.

Inside the chamber, the pets claw at the walls as their lungs burn and they vomit. Killing a cat or dog this way can take up to 30 minutes (some dogs have survived even past 30 minutes).

Pennsylvania recently became “the twentieth state to ban the use of gas chambers in animal shelters and animal control facilities,” The Sacramento Bee reports. The federal government is also considering a resolution to ban gas chambers, as Alicia Graef reported on Care. It was referred to committee in the House of Representatives in July.

Lethal injections are believed to cause less suffering to the victims than gas chambers do, which explains the growing movement to outlaw the chambers.
