Fawn, some of those sites you linked to are fear-mongering conservative websites that are posting out and out untruths without doing their homework! Please don't worry about this. No one has tested positive for Ebola as a result of the patient who came to Dallas, and hopefully no one will. Everyone who had contact with him is being closely monitored, and, having weathered the SARS epidemic here in Toronto, as a nurse on the frontlines, I trust the precautions that are being taken are adequate. If SARS had been handled like this when it first struck, it would have saved many lives!

If we're talking "worst case senarios" there are a LOT more illnesses a dog can get a lot easier than ebola.

I just was reading a paper about dogs being tested after a previous outbreak.  They did carry the disease and were asymptomatic.  In fact, it appears two dogs tested for it in Europe, and yet the world did not turn into ebola zombies after that outbreak. I can't say I disagree with euthanizing the dog in Spain, but I don't agree with all the hysteria.

THe Coronavirus is what we vaccinate our puppies for with its last shot...IT is more known and since the SARS epidemic it is a must. We import a lot of dogs from China of the other breeds and it was suspected that is where it got into our country in such a mass amount.

I do not do Lepto but I make sure the Coronavirus is in my  last puppy shot...

YR, SARS is a corona virus, one of MANY different types of corona virus. The corona virus dogs are vaccinated for is NOT SARS. It is CCV (Canine corona virus) and is specific to DOGS only, (though it is related to feline enterovirus.)  It affects the intestines. SARS (short for Sudden Acute Respiratory Syndrome) affects the lungs.

I'm so glad the dogs keep theirs to themselves...
