Not sure if this link will work, but the dog in the center is exactly what my friend is looking for.
Denwolf Your dog is my kind of shepherd, but the lighter colors are what my friend is looking for.
I found this photo on the internet, I have no source for this photo.
Anyone recognize these dogs?

Yes, London WAS in the pedigrees of the Shiloh shepherds, but the Shilohs are mostly American line German shepherds, which would explain where the blood came from. The breed founder (Tina Barber) broke with the AKC when she crossed her shepherds with a dog that was supposedly a mix of giant malemute/GSD (Secret Samson Woo)*. The GSD side of his pedigree (again, supposedly) included both Dorothy Crider's white shepherds, which had starred in movies, and the Hobo dogs.
Tina was friends with Chuck, and tried to breed him a dog with the Hobo mask, as he no longer had any of his original dogs. She was not very successful.
*I've heard various stories about this dog's parentage, and not all of them support this. I've also heard he was a full-blooded timber wolf... Tina called Samson her 'MAW' line which stood for Malemute, American TV show dogs (Littlest Hobo) and White shepherd.
Anyway - nuff said - breed is in a terrible mess, and would no longer touch it with a 10 foot pole... :(
I've seen a video of soldiers training with the DDR working line dogs, and a very, very high percentage of the dogs had reverse masks. No idea why - could be because a couple of popular DDR studs like Lord had that mask.
EDIT: wish people would learn to make LIVE links! It's quite simple: you click on 'enable editor, highlight your text with the mouse, then click on the icon that looks like a link in a chain!

Of course, you can also cut and paste a link directly into the box that pops up when you click on the chain link icon...
Oh, and here's proof about what was said earlier by Gennie - the mask is certainly NOT anything new. Maybe Adolf was the one that helped make it popular!

Might want to check out Tamaskan Dogs -- they are usually light sable with a reverse mask and have GSD in their background. Some pics and useful breed info at:
Sunsilver is right about Shiloh Shepherds. They used to be great dogs but now the breed has mostly been ruined (nervebag temperaments).

New Zion Kennels, which was being run by Tina's daughter, after Tina's death from lung cancer, is now closed. Most of the remaining ISSR breeders have formed their own club, but I very much doubt the breed will survive long enough to get recognition by AKC. The breed is split into several different clubs, none of which can agree on what's right for it.
And you're right about the temperaments!! If you looked at the training section of the forums, it was just one topic after another, all them along the lines of "my dog is afraid of..."
