Joan, your dogs look so happy. Very cool photos.

Mitch Seavey?

Not Seavey, he's still in Alaska far as I know. Just a guy who works his malamutes in harness.

Why did you ask, then? Did you think you recognized him?

Vk, how old is your female? She's buff and I bet a force to be reckoned with.

I see. Hardly anyone runs Malamutes in the Iditarod anymore. They aren't competitive. The photo came from my Malamute breed board submitted by one of my OZ members. I don't know Seavey personally, only by his reputation and sleddog tour ads.

I know about mals and iditarod...they are freight dogs, not speed or endurance dogs. My dogs were closer to the type used in the 'rod. One malamute team entered the race years ago, in an attempt to prove they were able...they pulled out of the race because of injuries...not the right kind of dog for that. Poor dogs, they gave it their best but paid the price for the woman's ego.

That team was owned by a friend and trained and driven by a very well respected musher, Jaime Nelson. They didn't complete the race because their feet and pasterns didn't hold up. It had nothing to do with anyone's ego.
