I have a Siberian Husky that is now 7 1/2 years old. Since the day I got him (12 weeks) I have never had him run off on me. I can take him anywhere, dog parks, hiking in the woods and he stays with in 10-15 feet of me at all times.  I think its all in how you treat them.  They can be distructive if they don't feel you are paying them enough attention... even if you are!  My boy has uprooted plants, dug holes, tore the water faucet out of the wall out side...thats mostly it though. He never has destroyed anything in my home, and I don't crate him...EVER.. They are spirited and don't want to be caged.  I brush him during high shedding season but other than that he does just fine.    I also have two german shepherds that  are just as demanding of my time, although they are a bit younger.

Hope this helps

I've had Malamutes for many years. Most are fighters and females mean business. The will fight to kill another dog. If you still have the dog, contact TexMal rescue. They will help you http://www.texalmal.org/

Thank you Blitzen.  Are you personally familiar with this rescue?

Fawnda, sometimes it´s better to find a good home for a dog than to keep it.
You already own a couple of dogs - and if I´m correct, in the near future you want to get a workingline German Shepherd - but space and time are restricted.
At least I´m no friend of separating dogs every second ( have done this, it´s no fun, not for you and not for the dogs ).
It´s better to take good care for one or two dogs, than to "board" too much of them.
Take care

Agreed.   I have reached the conclusion that this dog, no matter how sweet to me, will not fit in my home.   As stated, I have plenty now.  All dogs deserve the best home suited for them (not for what the human wants).

Now to find her the right home.  Blitzen provided a wonderful rescue org, but I do know the realities there; more dogs than there are funds and homes.   Now that I better understand the breed, I can ask better questions to insure a good home.

If anyone is interested in her, PM me.

Thank you all for your good advice and not passing along the sales pitch only.   It is easy to have a sweet beautiful dog sale me on keeping her, much harder to give up once I have grown attached.

That rescue will help find a home for her.
