Gotta confess...I've had too many bad experiences with chis to ever have any fondness for them!
Had one in for boarding this summer that I couldn't even get to come out of the cage. If I tried to get a noose on him, he'd jump up and try to bite my hands. Going for his collar to leash him was totally out of the question, unless I wanted to wind up in the ER... And, of course, if I tried to 'herd' him out of the cage, he'd just cower in the corner and attack anything that came near him, including my legs and feet. Tempting him with food was useless, too. The minute he saw a stranger, he'd go into defensive mode.
It's one of the few times I've been very glad the owner provided me with pee pads!
The very next week, I had ANOTHER chihuahua come in with a very bad temperament. It took the OWNER ( who didn't believe in leashes) 20 minutes to get him into the cage. Fortunately, this one had a sliding door, and he would go out to pee, but refused to come back in. I went outside to see if I could sort of gently 'herd' him towards the door, and he circled behind me and bit my ankle!
He got to stay outside with the mosquitoes for awhile after that, until he realized coming inside was acutally a GOOD idea....
Oh for automatic doors, that can be closed at the touch of a button, and keyed to a dog's collar!

Well, no problem, Sunsilver. Noah is not for sale, anyway.
Haz, just curious- just nice to put a person w/a screen name sometimes. Nice work! Chis are extremely intelligent, in my experience. I have had 2 dogs who were insanely intelligent and one was my first Chi. The thought processes he displayed were amazing. Lots of "outsiders" don't like them because they're often one-person or one-family dogs...much like our GSDs, but people seem to excuse a GSD who is anti-social outside his family while a Chihuahua gets labeled as having bad temperament. A Chi w/good Chi temperament is a pretty awesome dog.

Haha thanks. I was just fooling around with Rambo there, he isnt really all that well trained. He has very nice temperment for a little dog and is actually a therapy dog. I think the pug in him actually calms him down a bit. The female we have is purebred and high strung to say the least lol.
