Fawndallas, I cant remember who makes it. I want to say Amishbuilt but I am not sure. There are some good ideas here. I will make the kennels 5' wide.

I have a kennel indoor/outdoor inside is 5x5 with gullotine door going out into a 5x10 . which makes 5x15 total space . It is enough room for even a great dane . Dogs are totally clean with this amount of space . block between them , some have wire . Block is better ! Hope it helps .

I have built a number of kennels and my kennels in Florida is a 30' X 35' concrete building with 6 Indoor runs that are 5' X 5' with 5' concrete kicker walls in between with a chain link gate...There's guillotine doors to the outside runs which are 5' X 11' with 3' concrete kicker walls with 5' chain link panels on top of that...with chain link doors opening to the outside...The building has a 2% slope to the outside so that it drains automatically to the outside...(this is very important)...then on the outside of the outside runs there's a drain that runs into a septic tank...The building is a concrete building which matches the house and the outside runs part also has a full hard roof on top...It gets hot in Florida...I also put up "mist sprayers" up to keep the dogs a bit cooler...There's also fans on the ceiling inside the kennel and more fans in the ceiling of the outside portion...Then outside the outside portion of the kennels I have put probably 20' of stone/pebbles to keep the outside a bit cleaner...

I just checked, to build 4 kennels, inside portion can be 4'-8", hoping they won't miss the 4".
Thank you for all the suggestions.

SitasMom, with the high humidity in your area, is there a chance of mold if misters are used? I have been considering misters, but was not sure about mold.
Many are referring to guillotine doors. Why is there a need for this?
In an ideal situation, I think I would want enough room between the length of the kennels to walk through. Just a thought.
I would also want some kind of drainage system for the outside portions to have wash run off into; similar to the high end horse stables.
Not sure I would want solid doors on the inside, like shown, as I would want the ability to fully see the dog, even inside.

guillotine doors are sliding doors so dogs can be contained in one side or the other, the slide up an down. i want to put a swinging door and a guilotine door combo. this should help with the electricity bills.
the garage where the inddor portion is has heat and ac, so the dogs will have a cool area to escape the heat.
the outdoor runs will be shaded, and some portion can have a mister system, not sure yet on it.
drainage will be away from the garage for easy clean up.
the dogs will not always be in their kennels, i want to have them so when I am away from the hosue, they don't end up in crates for as often. also we have dogs that don't get along, so they have to be rotated every evening. some sleep inside, other will sleep in the kennels. only 2 in the house every night will keep it much cleaner.

There's a PDF document on how the military do their kennels.

I personally like the way they do their indoor/outdoor kennels Two 8 x 10's with a 4x4 concrete dog house with a steel lid for cleaning..

I had the following set up a long time ago and would like to have it again one day.
Runs were 10 ft long by 4 wide. CBS block betwen runs 4 block high. Heavy duty chain link for fence. Gutter on the backside outside the fence.
Dog houses were designed to sit on top of the blocks between the runs so they could use the box as shade and get off the concrete. Ramps were attached to the dog boxs.
Two of the runs had wire across the top because one of my females figured out how to jump from the ramp to the top of the dog box and get out.
The only thing I think would have made this set up better, is if it were screened in with a roof and perhaps fans.
I live in SW Fla so bugs and heat are a concern.

I have a kennel made from galvanized welded wire mesh and so far so good. It is 10x20 which is a little big for some people but like I said I only have 1 dog, so it works out great
