My very first GSD had a pretty nice head for a female, though her ears could be more upright (probably just lack of attention.) The boys should look like boys and the girls should look like girls! She was also a rescue, but given where she came from she MAY have been from Leo Bellini's kennels (Carissima). The farm she came from was only a couple of miles away from his place.

Front view of Ranger's head. I really like his ears. They are absolutely parallel, and not too large, the way you often see with the American line dogs.

The female was on her way out when that picture was taken. She had to be PTS  5 months later, due to arthritis in her spine, so no surprise the 'spark' is missing. Poor girl...she was very brave, in spite of the pain she must have been in.

Sorry to hear about her pain, I could sense sort of sadness about her in that pic.
Yes spark is the right word, that spark is all over his face expression

Although I do like a nice and pleasing head, I am not a "head hunter" persay;  but it is overall a pretty boy.  Best of luck with him  Nan

don't you think its the photoshopped gone wrong...

Nan, no I don't. I have seen far too many heads like that lately in the show line dogs. Sad Smile

(Resists temptation to post photos...)  Angry Smile

Hi guyz...Im sure you know the  dog in the pic above is Aslan vom Türkenkopf...Since the head is being discussed i would like to mention one more specimen Enosh Vom Amasis ...I find both their heads very similar, although Enosh is a VA for 2013 something doesn't seem right about this head type....very punched in snout, smaller in lenght (like the rottwhieler) and the head stop extreamly roundly pronounced.... These are head types comonly foung in mastifs, rotts and labs... Any comments on where the SV is taking the breed standered too and are these extream looks any good for the breed.... although the dog looks Macho..lol..

They knew, why they didn´t show him on the Siegerschau...
I think it´s a Quenn - problem.
