He didn't live too far from the pohranicni straze kennels and he said he used t spend a lot of time there. He was there during the time when dogs like Grim was still working, and I asked him if he ever saw Furo Kamos...he said, 'oh my gawd, yes! That was a great dog !' He said , 'you know who my favorite dog was ? Grim! He was the greatest dog I ever saw in my life! '
He went on to tell me he had a Grim son, and his Grim grandson just passed away, so he wants another good Czech dog. He said there are a lot of gsd up there where he lives, but too sporty, and he wants the kind that has the presents which is undeniably serious with the temperament and confidence to back it up.
It was pretty cool talking to someone with first hand experience with the old great dogs behind my own dogs.

duke1965- quote: "when in fact they found one , one trainer/breeder in my club bought it and first day of training got seriously attacked by the doberman, result was guy to hospital and doberman put to sleep"
That is exactly the type of incidence I was refering to and wondering about. There are numerous accounts of Dobermann's euthanized for 'attacking' their handlers/owners/kennel staff/etc. Many breeders consider those dogs mentally unfit or 'bad'. Threads like this make me wonder if the dogs were actually somewhat like the 'gangster' GSD's being discussed and if so, how badly the gene pool is suffering from their loss?
Do you know what that Dobermann's name or pedigree was?

wouldnot call him gangster dog, just normal dog that had defence kicking in, dog was put in a long down on first day with new owner, dog stood up and owner charged to him shouting down ,and acting like he was going to hit him, dogs natural response was fight
I might be able to get the info on that dog, but he is long gone
over the years I rehomed several SWAT and policedogs for same reasons, getting in conflict with the handler, are they gangster dogs, dont think so, just strong dogs with wrong handler, several of these dogs are now USA policedogs, and one Ex SWAT dog is now Demo dog at Tarheel K9, really awesome malinois, loved and handled by Jerrys wife, Britney
here is another one of those monsterdogs, that came from police, dual purpose, narc dog who attacked his handler , now a USA policedog

here is my first trainingsession with monsterdog from SWAT, would have been put to sleep If I didnot take him, he is now at Tarheel

there is a breeder from Fl who is preserving Furo Kamos and Navar lines ( won't put his name here unless I ask him ).
I find the concept of NATIVE aggression versus "EDITED" aggression raised by Prager to be an interesting concept. Anyone would like to clarify what these would look like and a few examples of dogs who have either

duke1965- Yes, sounds like poor (foolish) handling. My Dobermann who I raised from a puppy would show me his teeth when I did something like that and he was no 'gangster' dog.
I was asking about the dogs name to see if there are parents/offspring/siblings or breeder still around to check out.
Looks like you have a good repor with the dogs. I have a GSD at the house now who was going to be put down for being handler agressive. He's nothing special temperament wise and actually soft/sensitive.
Prager- I'm not sure what your post means.

You would have to think the swat handler was a complete nemb or complete ass or both. For a first meet, greet and taste test that looks like a very good dog. That dept would never see a dog again at least from me.
