Canine Herpes Virus - Page 2

Apparently 85% of bitches actually carry the herpes virus which mostly lies dormant but in some cases awakens during pregnancy. Usually with canine herpes the bitch will whelp a week early and the puppies will be still born, unfortunately I have experienced this. I use Eurican Herpes 205 vaccine on the day of mating and then a second vaccine is given between 1-2 weeks before the bitch whelps. Hope this is helpful as this is a horrible thing to happen to any breeder and their bitch.
