DKiah, If it takes 24 hours before it can release the poison, then that's the answer.. For that matter, if it took 5 minutes to release the poison, the result would be the same. The tick I saw died instantaneously. Thanks again

Yeah I had found one on my boy a day or two after I put frontline on. Its been almost a month now and I havent found any other ticks. Thanks for all the info and replies. I guess Ill be sticking with Frontline. Thanks!

Cornell did a study that found that fleas and ticks were actually more attracted to dogs that were fed Brewers Yeast. Its an old wives tale :(

"I use Dr Caveat Canus' Tick Vaporisor which only uses all natural cucumber oils and I have never had a tick on my dog in the last 20 years even though I leave him out in the forest all night long..." Sometimes I think that dog owners are seeking so much in the way of "natural" products for their dogs, especially when it somes to treating disease or repelling parasites (internal & external)that they will give the animal anything touted as an "all natural" product. If someone gave them a bottle of wisteria juice for killing worms and told them it is a 100% natural plant product guaranteed to kill all the worms, they would happily dose the dog, thinking it to be far superior to the "chemical" wormers on the market.

Need I add that wisteria is highly poisonous?

I tell this because I have seen it, at a Schutzhund club, a novice looking for a natural product to worm his puppy. Someone gives him a little brown bottle of "natual plant extracts." He takes it willingly, happily, does not even ask what is in it. What trust, what naivity!

I too am for using as many natural products as possible, but we must remember natural doesn't necessarily mean good for you.... poison ivy and arsenic are both "natural" but not good!! Sometimes you have to just go with mediciane and technology and use the products developed for a particular problem and use them sparingly if at all possible!! I too am a huge fan of Frontline, always have been !

The fleas around here seem to be becoming immune to Frontline.. :( I find that Mycodex all in one spray works well. It is waterproof, so it lasts, even if the dog swims. Dr Clemmons said it is safe to use along with the Frontline spot on, if the Frontline doesnt knock the fleas down, alone. I was panicked because Missie T has DM, but he said the Mycodex is safe to use on her.
