I haven't hit Oprah up yet but I did Ellen...she has a Yay May Prize giveaway going on and it's simple to enter so I entered it and asked her to consider Dudley as someone deserving a huge, life-changing prize.  I did a cut and paste of the news reel and then an abbreviated copy of 1doggie2's comments so that it would fit and sent it in.  Surely if a bunch of us on here did that she would not be able to ignore it.  She is an animal lover and great humanitarian.  Come one folks, give it a shot!

His name is J. Dudley Beevers. he did 2 tours of duty in Vietnam, Army. He was working for FEDEX and was robbed, shot multilpule times, stomach and lost his leg. This blew apart his life, lost his home, lost his family. Was living with sister and with the economy the grown kids moved home so he hit the streets with the house being too full.  His Army buds pick him up and take him to Sisters to wash his clothes and take showers.  He rescued another dog named biscut, a pit and sharpie (sp) mix, and he has kept him.  He is doing the best he can with what life has delt him and continues to appreicate the little things.

There, I made it easy for you.  Copy and paste this to Ellen's site and add your own comments then send it in.

Has anyone made a FB page yet? If not, I will.

Working on it right now..can anyoen whip me up a graphic of an American flag w/ a GSD overlay? All images I'm finding are copyrighted.

*****Page is up!**** Couldn't use a name I wanted because FB kept denying it, so the title isn't ideal but you get the point.

Lets pass it along and try to get some big numbers, guys!

Can we come up with a definite list (Local VA, FedEx, Humane Society, Memphis news stations, etc) that people can email/call to ask for help on this man's behalf? I'd like it for the page and for email.

What about the link already posted?  Won't it work?

www.superpages.com/yellowpages/C-Military+%26+Veterans+Organizations/S-TN/T-Memphis

Not sure why it's not linking here...go to page 3.  This has loads of info on it.

Thanks for doing the FB by the way.  Awesome effort on your part.

This page will be updated when the video interview is processed etc. I have a media anchor that's willing to run with his story.

Good Luck everyone. It's nice to see so many people involved.

DebiSue- I emailed them and for the hell of it, the producers at Oprah. SOMEONE in Memphis has to be willing to give this man a job and a home. I'm going to look into Memphis radio stations right now.

edit: I found this site:
www.ontheradio.net/metro/memphis_tn.aspx

I'm going send out mass emails tomorrow night. I'm heading to bed.

If he got shot on the job, why isn't he getting a disability settlement?
He also needs to apply for SSDI as soon as possible.

He may be too proud...some people are.  Some people don't realize that these programs were developed to help someone in this situation...not for the blood suckers that are draining the programs dry.  Many good people don't want to be compared to the lazy, government savvy ones who are just out to get what they can.  It can be a tough pill to swallow and some of the hardest words in the world to say are, "I need help.  I can't do it myself."

Awesome BE and KC!  Thanks for your efforts.

BabyEagle, that's awesome news! I will send everyone who likes my page over to yours, well done!

Ive joined hopefully some of my friends will join also.  I also wrote to Ellen about him with the link...the coverage is what we need to make the difference!  I hope he can get those government benefits he needs also!  Maybe he needs a helping hand figuring out how to get them?  Maybe a good thing to do is to pool money to get him a lawyer that will win him some benefits?
