The goal; of KNPV is a police/miltary dog so most of the KNPV dogs go In duty here or worldwide
this means the breeding program is in tune of a police./military dog.
In that way most KNPV dogs will be sold ,
KNPV is not on that level like IPO as a worldwide sport competition. simple this is not the primairy goal.
Today we see also more and more clubs preparing on real practise exercises and organize special practise days, .
What i wrote in an other post we also get maybe in future a new certidfcation especial for real practise
examination every time on different locations, unknown exercises out of the today standard program. , all of this is in development.
To eliminate the weaker dogs and create another stronger breeder program
(Today ofcourse dog and police K9 handler also do a special examination as a team)

Well GSD is only 2 or 3 prercent from all dogs in the KNPV X malinois/Dutch shepherds the other 98
almost don,t have any IPO dogs in their pedigree you will see PH-1 ,I can show you hundreds of dogs
SO I can say the KNPV don,t need IPO , also the dutch police/military don,t need GSD because
most of them are X malinois/dutch shepherds for any reason.....but that is another discussion i do not go in too much one of them is that most handlers with years of experience some have worked before with other breeds like bouvier,GSD,have make choice to work with
X malinois/dutch shepherds and some hardcore people like Brandvoort,Gardefense,Heukske.Mahlermeister etc stay faitfull to GSD I have a lot of respect for them.
Personal I don,t care if any dog/breed is good for the job I will take him

the facts however is that we wont find any dog in KNPV and few or none in LE of many worldwinners in IPO, certain dogs/lines we see a lot, even if not placed on podium once
so in the end it is about the quality of the individual dog and not about if he is IPO dog as they all have to be in order to be able to breed in germany
by BlackMalinois on 23 March 2017 - 09:03
That is correct what Duke is saying its about the quality from every individual dog and genetics.

Knpv, police, MWD, and dog vendors keep having to go back to IPO once they have got to about the second or third generation of their experiments.
Its all good brahs, without the depth of the IPO program every other program runs shallow.
Funny thing I am not an IPO guy but I know now its meaning to the breed. I think I will go sponsor someone somewhere to title their dog.
Everything outside of IPO is a cottage industry of hanger on's.

IPO and KNPV have different goals and at successful levels seek different types of dogs these day. There is a very small pool of genetics within the IPO German Shepherds that are used in KNPV.....so if the small pool constitutes identifying KNPV dogs as coming from IPO dogs; though I don't use exceptions to make a case, I can understand some thinking in this fashion. Actually, this type of logic is becoming popular in United States currently?😎
